Not really. "Chocolate Factory" and "Happy People/U Saved Me" did 3 million, yeah, but his albums have only done modestly well since. And as you see, "Double Up" only did 935K in total. Of course you can say that's due to the dying music industry, but compared to how he initially did, his audience has diminished. The only real reason he's still popular is because of "Trapped in the Closet". True he still score a hit single but his albums have only done as well as the first single, lol.

But weren't those big sellers right after all this happenend??? Why are 3 million, mostly black, people buying this pedophile's albums after he repeatedly preyed on young black girls??? disbelief I've heard stories of him going up to local high schools in Chicago picking up girls. omfg Ridiculous!

I don't get it either. I have a co worker in his mid 20's who swear by r.kelly
like he is the best thing since sliced cheese. He goes to his shows and seems
to ignore the scandals. My problem with this is these same blacks who are buying his albums would be singing a different tune if this was a white entertainer who had done this to black underage girls.

YES, this shit should be brought up. & the reason it's taken SO long is b/c bottom line - mf's on mass (the record buying public, the "community") don't care about what happens to young Black women/girls, bottom fucking line. It's a damn shame that mf's wanna pretend it wasn't him so they can still spin his shitty records - what happened to protecting CHILDREN?? ALL CHILDREN??? hammer

Thanks, hun. She worked at Jive (Kelly and Aaliyah's label) when Aaliyah first came out. They all knew what was going on, it was common knowledge. But her parents didn't pursue it legally to protect her budding career. disbelief Crazy!

You know i remember in the early 90's when he was mentoring her career they

At the time i just thought of it as a big brother/little sister type thing

Just to tell you how young I was, I thought they were actually brother and sister. lol So when I first heard that Rob and 'Liyah were allegedly getting it on, I was like "get out of here". Then there was the license and I was like "ohhhh... and she's a TEENAGER?" I actually thought she was 18, lol.

I'm sorry, but if it's a grown ass man involved then that teen, hot draws and all, is a VICTIM not an accomplice. The age of consent is 17 or 18 (depending on the state) for a reason. And any parent that allows their 14, 15, 16, EVEN 17 year-old to be used and abused by a grown ass man are pimps and complicit in the victimization. Regardless of a girl's sexual history or experience, there's no justification for it. At least Prince married Mayte. . . . when she was LEGAL.

How did he not get charged with shit in the Aaliyah situation???? He wasn't THAT big a star at the time. And with MJ's shit it seems like they had him in court less than 6 months after they searched Neverland. Ironically, R's video came out around the same time MJ was going through his stuff. So tell me, how in the HELL R. Kelly is walking around, throwin' weave up in his head, painting his head gold as a FREE man???? I don't get it. disbelief confuse

Michael surrendered to the police November 21, 2003. I remember that date because I was watching the television and almost passed out when I saw him in handcuffs. They had Mike arraigned in the middle of January. The trial started a year after in February and lasted until June 13th 2005. I remember that date because my ass had the stereo blasting Workin Day And Night, Sunset Driver, and Wanna Be Startin Somethin out of the window lol

Michael's whole situation was bullshit whereas R. Kelly's is real and the prosecution has pictures and videotapes.

Yet Michael is still seen as guilty but this bitch ass golden haired muthafucka is still free?

I saw that tape, and that's DEFINITELY him. There's even abortion papers with his name on it mad

Here is the reason why Michael is seen as guilty. The children that were involved in Michael's case were white...and you know, you cannot mess with a white child and get away with it. Whereas, the girl that is involved in the R. Kelly case is black. When it comes to something like that, people seem to look the other way. However, I will say this, the parents in the R. Kelly case are just as guilty as Kelly is. Why? What in the hell is my 13 year old daughter doing with this man....at this time of day? Her parents in my opinion, were paid off not to say a word. This shows how much they love their daughter and just how much people are afraid to tell R. Kelly, NO!!.

Neither of the kids in Michael's cases were white. The first one was Jewish and Eurasian and the one in the 2003 was Latino

Its a funny one, this American justice system. They are quick to throw ordinary African Americans into prison for all sorts of crime, here in New Zealand we see a lot of shows like America's hardest prisons and Cops and you can see the numbers of black faces on those, usually white cops arresting them or white guards in the prisons. I believe blacks make up 50-60% of the prison population or something yet only 12% of the population in general
Yet if its a African American person of note, they are indestructible just like the OJ case and Michael Jackson (Yet hes not really black anymore, and he was so innocent), but this R Kelly person is as guilty as sin and should be shackled down. Other examples are Puffy Daddy or whateva he calls himself, Akon, Snoopra Dogg are all innocent, why because the judges fare a backlash of biblical proportions accusing them of institutionalised racism. And afterall our hyper politically correct world teaches us that only white people can be racists and we are all evil. Yet as far as I concerned if you do the crime, you do the time. The only three I can think of in prison (and all 80s 90s) were James Brown, Slick Rick, and Rick James. Also have you not noticed that a lot of gangsta rap is prison based, about brothers being in and out of the "pen". This man should get 50 years with no possibility of parole and they should lock up the stupid cow he pissed on as well as its obvious she is not in control of her mental faculties. mad

Michael is still black. His skin may not be dark, but he's still a brother. It should've been a reality check to every black celebrity that if they can try to frame MICHAEL JACKSON, they can sure as hell frame you

They tried to charge him with statutory rape, but the girl who was in that video was uncooperative with police and refused to implicate him. So that's why they are going with the child porn charges instead. This has been dragging on way too long, even for a high profile case. There's been trials of Conrad Black, Tony Rezko, and even a former governor of Illinois which were even more high profile and involving complex legal issues like Enron which have come and gone since this case was initially made. Some of the stuff was deliberate stalling by R. Kelly's lawyers to come up with a concocted defense, but other things have been freak accidents and other events which have delayed the trial.

In the meantime, R. Kelly has continued to indulge his predilection for young girls most recently with the daughter of his longtime publicist who is now 18 or 19 but he's known her since she was 4 years old. Who knows how many other girls he's been with since then.

Well you gotta take into account that R. Kelly was not accused of molesting little boys like MJ and also many black's feel that Michael has turned his back on his race and community so i'm not suprised people were more supportive of R. Kelly....But can you imagine if there was a video tape out there of Michael and some little boy? HOLY! That ish would be everywhere and Mike would be rotting in jail right now (which would be the appropriate punishment of course) but I just don't see how anyone can turn a blind eye to R. Kelly when there is OVERWHELMING evidence there that he is guilty, but race, different levels of celebrity status and homophobia have a lot to do with why Michael and R. Kelly are treated differently.

Like someone else said though, the truth is that the media just does not give two shits about what happens to black girls. I'm not just talking about this case either. Look at how much coverage the media gives to cases involving missing white girls whereas when black girls go missing, it barely gets mentioned.

Anyway all I know is that if this had been a case where R. Kelly was caught on tape f**king some little white girl and peeing on her, trust me his ass would be in jail right now or he would have at least gone to trial already. Nobody cares what happens to black girls though and as a black female it saddens me to say that, but that's the reality of the matter.

It was rumored Kelly slept with the Daniels' then 21-year-old daughter, but was unconfirmed until recently, when Daniels, a respected music retail vet, came forward on Guy Black's morning show.

"He crossed the line with my daughter," Daniels said. "It didn't get to the extreme of that [sex tape] video or else I wouldn't be here, if you know what I'm talking about . . . When you're 21, and if you've been there already like I've been many years ago, you're still 15 to 16 mentally. You're vulnerable."
