Russell Ferrante: From Debarge to The Yellowjackets

...
biggrin One of My Favorite Keyboardists!

Pianist Russell Ferrante started up backing R&B, Blues and Pop luminaries and playing on recordings by Debarge, Randy Crawford, Joni Mitchell, Jimmy Witherspoon, Sheree Brown, Marilyn Scott, and Bobby Caldwell... when he, Jimmy Haslip and Ricky Lawson got together to record with Robben Ford for the album The Inside Story, they decided to become a regular group and dubbed themselves The Yellowjackets - the Drummer chair has since changed , to Will Kennedy, and then to the current drummer Marcus Baylor, but I've always loved the band's feel, whether they're playing on their own or collaborating with others....:

Yellowjackets - Invisible People

Yellowjackets - Azure Moon (with WDR Big Band)

Take 6 with the Yellowjackets - God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen

Yellowjackets w/ Bobby Mcferrin - "Summersong"

Yellowjackets w/ Robben Ford - Live 1979
