So ghetto. I remember Usher won an award and had to walk 12 inches to reach the stage. It took him a minute because evryone had to move out of the way without falling over the folding chairs. Since the studio is so small there was no room for an audience so the applause was a track. I think Ciara performed (lip-synched). Fun times. After that year no one with any sense would attend that H.A.M (Hot Ass Mess). I remember that mess. That's when I gave up. It was 2005. | |

Oh...and 6. When rap group Public Enemy won a Soul Train Award, that moment mark the first and only time the group won ANY music award from any award show. That's not right.  [Edited 4/18/08 15:46pm] | |

I don't know about you guys' areas but aroud here the show didn't get any press and if you just happened to be home and awake at 11:35pm on the airing night you would catch it  Sometimes it would be on later than 11:35pm(in NY). How embarrassing. | |

I loved the first soul train music awards. my fondest memory was that ll cool j performed and there was no trouble, and the ladies screamed about how sexy he was. he opened the door for more rappers to be on the show(took a minute). now look at the rappers and how they dress.. ewwwww.
I didn't know that one year they did the show in the studios of the actual show. that is crazy. I wish I could have seen that one. nipsy | |

It's about time the awards show ended because it had become a dull ass mess. The series should have ended around 1989 because the 1990s and today had made the show a damn disgrace to it's name.
The best thing they did, was end the new shit hop episodes and start playing the old episodes. However, they need to continue with some old episodes that they haven't aired in the last year. Andy is a four letter word. | |
