Your favourite artists / bands in the different genres of popular music? I personally have a very broad taste in pop-music, and i was just thinking: what are my favourite artists and bands when it comes to the different 'genres'?
For fun, i tried to assemble a list. Here it is (somewhat chronological, the categories are a bit arbitrary of course): Jazz: Miles Davis Soul: Otis Redding Pop: The Beatles Funk: George Clinton / Sly Stone (a tie here, sorry, too hard to choose) Singer-songwriter: Van Morrison (sorry Nick Drake and Joni Mitchell) Power-pop: Big Star / Matthew Sweet / Teenage Fanclub (again, too hard to pick) Hardrock / Metal: King's X Alternative Rock: REM Country: Lyle Lovett Post-modern: Prince (but with a honorable mention for Björk) So, what are your favourite artist when it comes to the different genres of popular music you like? | |
