In 2008, yes, it is. Never! thekidsgirl said: You're not alone...I love Dru Hill

They were like an R&B supernova -- it flared out quickly, but it was hot while it lasted! Dru Hill was the industry's attempt to capitalize on a void created when Jodeci went their separate ways. It worked for the first album then the listening audience wised up and sized them up for what they were. Imitations. Sisqo was just a fake sounding K C. Someone posted that he had a more soulful voice than Usher, well, I haven't heard his true voice yet so I wouldn't be bold enough to make that comparison. I know what Usher's voice sounds like though.

I know what Usher's voice sounds like though. Nah, everyone realized they sounded like Jodeci from the beginning. Regardless, their first album is a more consistent listen than any Jodeci album. I'm a huge Jodeci fan, but they were quick to come with the filler. Anyway, Dru Hill succeeded not because they sounded like Jodeci, but because they had good songs. "In My Bed" alone would've been enough to make them huge -- it's one of my very favorite R&B songs of the decade. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

I know what Usher's voice sounds like though. You talk like if the industry created Dru Hill... Dru Hill was a typical vocal group influenced by hip hop sound, somehow someway the reason why people compare Dru Hill with Jodeci has more to do with the similarities between Sisqo and K ci singing style than anything else... It's not like if the music industry was searching for an "imitation of Jodeci"... At that time there were a lot of vocal groups... And Sisqo as an artist was very different from K ci... The idea that the industry was trying to capitalize on a void create when Jodeci broke up makes no sense... [Edited 4/20/08 11:41am]

All of them sounded either like Boyz II Men or Jodeci. That was the choice of the music industry as they were trying to capitalize on the most successful groups of the era.

Musically Dru Hill is far from Jodeci, H Town by example is closer to what Jodeci was doing

It's not like Dru Hill was some industry put-together ploy to ride on Jodeci's success...They really did start out as high school friends working at the Fudgery here in downtown Baltimore
I think they sounded really great together, and other than sisquo's cockiness, I don't have a problem with em If you will, so will I
