The promoters see it as a way of selling more tickets because that variety is supposed to be something for everyone. Well, hell, we're sick of the shit hop. It has completely taken over both the R&B and pop radio and the groups we are going to see in concert couldn't get any airplay if they made something new because of the shit hop. It's like looking at the damn enemy up on that damn stage before the group you want to see comes on. Also, just hearing the shit spoils the mood before the good groups come on. Also, I don't want to spend one penny to support shit hop in any kind of way and that includes concerts also.

And that's crazy. It's like people are forced to confine to it even though we know it's like a disease/plague but you just don't wanna get rid of it.

I think American orgers are trying to apply American thinking to this. This isn't about race, it's about quality of music and said musician's current popularity, simple as that. Jay Z isn't big here. Last year he played two nights at the Albert Hall - 3000 seats. The second night didn't sell out, despite everyone knowing that both Beyonce and Chris Martin were going to be appearing with him. His albums haven't done well here in years.

Jay Z's recently signed a deal with Live Nation. They had to boost his global popularity as a live artist. Glastonbury has been a traditional crucible in propelling bands into the big leagues (Pulp headlined there in 1995 and subsequently went stratospheric with Common People), and the Saturday night headlining slot is a coveted one. Live Nation probably thought it was a great idea. The organisers probably thought it was a great idea. The public thought Mr Beyonce ...? Naaaaah. Now, had it been Beyonce, I bet you the reaction would have been different.

You make some strong points...And you know your shit...But as you know this is less about Jay Z (100, 000 tickets aren't nothing to sneeze at...) and more about overall dwindling ticket sells for festivals in the UK...Like I said, I'm not arguing over people not liking the idea of Jay Z or any other "urban" act headlining the Glastonbury...They have every right, and I see their vision..

It's the other voices that are using code words that kind of get at me...As for quality of music, that's just opinion isn't it?

I hear you there, Murph.

They are seeing it as a way of making the most money they can by mixing genres thinking they can get people with several tastes together. I remember one time I went to a Barkays concert with J. Blackfoot (a blues singer) as the opening act. There were only about 80 to 100 people at the concert. I happen to like both artists but I did notice that older blues fans were leaving when J. Blackfoot finished performing and I saw a lot of people my age just arriving before The Barkays came on stage. I heard complaints coming from both blues and funk fans that they could have had a longer night of entertainment if they didn't have two completely different type groups performing. Also, just think about both blues and funk fans that probably stayed home and didn't buy a ticket because they didn't like the other group that was performing.

But when it comes to shit hop, that's another story altogether. A lot of lovers of real music are just downright sick of it being every damn where and feel like they can't even get an escape from it at a funk concert that rarely comes to town as opposed to a damn shit hop concert that is in a local club every damn weekend, is all over the radio 24/7, and is all over the television if people want to see it.

LOL...I don't know Vain...I respect your stance and the fact that you stand your ground...But you are beginning to sound like somebody's 80 year old grandfather...Not everything is "shit hop..."

(And on the real, I'm still waiting on you to explain your comments about Prince picking up fleas from performing with that talentless hack Beyonce at the Grammy's when dude has recorded music with such true musical talents and visionaries as Vanity and Apollonia...lol)

We get it...You hate hip hop and any new "urban" music that has been dropping over the last 15 years or so...Hell, I don't dig a lot of it...But painting everything with one brush is a little weak...(No disrespect Vain...)

Funny, I've been comparing Hip-Pop to disco for years. Maybe there'll come a time when it will go away, but it's nearing its third decade of commercial viability and may not slow down for a while.

Vanity and Apollonia aren't shit hop trash either. Most of the time, you get fleas from something low class and there ain't nothing more low class than shit hop. Vanity and Apollonia were whores. Beyonce is a ho. There's a difference.

True....very few of those ticket sales were due to Oasis performing...the number of tickets have nothing to do with the headliner. You would have to blame the entire lineup...if it were that strong, you could walk when Mr.Carter stepped out...which is exactly what would happen if Gallagher's sorry band headlined.

Jay Z has worked with Chris Martin.

Chris was at his goddamn wedding to Beyonce.

Anyway, it's pretty obvious Mr Gallagher has a rather dark side that he should learn to keep to himself.

When's the last time he had a hit anyway? Jay Z's albums and singles still do well today.

Fuck Oasis.

Shit hop. It definately ain't high class or even middle class, that's for damn sure. She may be from a middle class background, but when you stoop to shit hop, you become gutter trash.

And for the record homie, in the urban community and beyond, Beyonce may be looked at as a overexposed, over-singing pop/R&B star with no personality, but the last thing people look at her as is a hoe...

I've heard her called ho, skank, tramp, slut, etc. from people of all different backgrounds. I've even heard people call her a whore but I have to correct them on that because whores ain't cheap, ho's are.

Yeah right. Like Bill O'Reilly could even keep up with me. I'm far from conservative. I'm the wildest, most foul mouthed, persmiscous whore there is, and certainly ain't straight. If it were up to me, people would be free to walk around with their dicks hanging out if they choose.

And as for conservative, shit hop would be more Bill's taste because it's as slow and dull as the classical music he probably listens to. Shit hop is also just as homophobic as he is, if not more. Ain't shit straight about me but my hair.

He came out of retirement in 2007, I think.

I think it was because of :

1. Boredom

2. More ideas

3. Problems with Def Jam

He's since said he's really embarrassed he decided to retire because he looks a bit silly coming back.
