Just because I haven't seen doesn't mean I havven't heard. I haven't heard anything good from MJ since Scream. There were a few things from invincible, but nothing stellar. I really don't think he has anything great left in him. Why is it we hasn't put out any new material in the last 5-6 years (or longer) even when he said he would?

the question is..
what are you doing under that pillow?? imma spank your hand!

You're gonna spank my hand? I think it's the one doing the spanking! lol

I'd count "HIStory" if Michael/Sony hadn't figured the smart way to distribute it with the first half being the greatest hits package. lol

i forgot about history- history-invincible- some missc. greatest hits w/one more chance/thriller 25-

yeah his formula still works- its just that mj has been recycling his albums not making new ones

and come to think of it- that is hella annoying!

There's something called the "Michael Jackson formula"

Work on an album, release the album, promote the album for at least 2 years, then rest for a year, and the cycle starts all over again

Off The Wall-recorded in 1978 to 1979. Released in 1979. Promoted from 1979 to 1981

Thriller-recorded from 1981-1982. Released in 1982. Promoted from 1982 to 1984.

Bad-recorded in 1985-1987. Released in 1987. Promoted from 1987 to 1989

Dangerous-recorded from 1989 to 1991. Released in 1991. Promoted from 1991-1993

and on and on.... lol

so by your calculations and minus Invincible- but the greatest hits and thriller 25 don't count- he is behind almost 15 years

I was giving an example from the 1979-1993 years

HIStory was recorded from 1994-1995(w/ exception of Come Together and Earth Song). Released in 1995. Promoted from 1995-1997

BOTDF-recorded from 1990-1995. Promotion tie in with HIStory

Invincible-recorded from 1998-2001. Released in 2001. Promotion from 2001 to early 2002

One More Chance was recorded in late 2002 or 2003.

The Ultimate Collection-various songs from 1998-2004

I know a fan on a mj board who is VERY impatient. Maybe it's because I have patience. My other favorite performer takes ages to release new material
you want to see HIS discography?

Faith-1987
Listen Without Prejudice-1990
Older-1996
Songs From The Last Century-1999
Patience-2004

Now if only Beyonce would try Michael and George's formulas and stay away for awhile lol

OH BOY! "Nuclear Juice" has gotta be one of the FUNKIEST instrumentals I ever heard. I'm thinking Marvin is playing the hell out of the keys or the drums, I'm inclined to believe the former.

Plus the last half of disc 2 featuring the "Love Man" sessions... wow... "Dance 'N' Be Happy" and "Funk Me, Funk Me, Funk Me" are my shit!!!! bananadance

I really don't think music is his first priority anymore. I hear he's working with so and so, but for someone who claims to record hundreds of tracks per making of an album, he should have really released something by now. He was much more consistent when releasing albums quickly, like from Destiny through Thriller, and Bad and Dangerous, but now he's being ridiculous. I'll bet that the songs he's rejecting from Ne Yo and Akon are excellent in terms of melodies adn harmonies and he just doesn't have that ear for melody anymore and is rejecting them. I was vexed when I heard Fall Again and how he chose You Are My Life over that!

But you know, he's stuck in the past, everyone else is too, and I'm just going to have to get over him cause until he proves the public wrong and comes out of hiding and releases that album, I've decided he's retired and done with, and too much of a pussy to announce it. After all, he does need people to camp outside his hotel room in Timbuktu doesn't he?

being evillol advocate

- why can't it be said that he's raising his kids successfully and that his attention has been turned toward them during their formative years. So many "stars" buy a nanny for each child and forget that they exist.

Maybe he truly is a great father to his kids- maybe he divorced his music for that.

I have to say though that GM output IMO is much better than MJ. GM's music when it does come out sounds new and is very enjoyable. While his albums are spread out, GM does still put out the occasional single, something MJ does not do.

Another group/artist that take their time putting something out is Sade. But like GM, when their disc drops it's noramlly good from start to finish.

Plus, both George Michael and Sade always bring something NEW to the table when they do their albums. Not one album is ever the same really. Michael on the other hand wants that BIG hit so that's why he takes a lot of time to come out with anything, I'm sure his new album WILL have substance but it's hard to see where it is just because of some of the people he'll choose to work with.

The main reason besides the "Hit" factor is scheduling. Mj always wants the so- called HOT producers on his work. The REASON these guys are hot is because they are constantly working. Trying 2 schedule studio time 4 several "HOT' producers can take MONTHS. Most of the guys don't just drop what they are working on and come running 2 MJ. He has 2 get in line just like everyone else. Some guys are BOOKED 4 months at a time.
