Robin Thicke's New Album, "Something Else" 4/15/08 Article Robin Thicke ratchets up the soul on his third solo album, "Something Else," due July 1 via Star Trak/Interscope. Thicke previewed the project for media last night (April 14) in Los Angeles. "Something Else" is led by the uptempo single "Magic," a further expansion of the sultry, classic R&B sound that powered his 2006 breakthrough, "The Evolution of Robin Thicke." A fedora-doffed Thicke worked the room (across the street from Interscope's Los Angeles headquarters), introducing himself to those in attendance. Prior to playing the album, he thanked Interscope for the "honor to do this one more time" and declared that the listening soiree was "a celebration. It's the Barack Obama era: yes, we can!" While "Evolution" featured cameos by Lil' Wayne, Faith Evans and Pharrell, "Something Else" sports no featured guests. "Evolution" climbed to No. 5 on The Billboard 200 and No. 1 on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart, spinning off the hit single "Lost Without U." To date, it has sold 1.5 million units in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan. In related news, Thicke's manager, Miguel Melendez of Overbook Entertainment, says fellow client Jennifer Hudson's long-awaited debut is due Sept. 30 via J Records.

Okay,
1.I'm glad I was a fan of Robin before people jumped on the bandwagon I had Evolution the week it was released. 2.This part is really cool for some reason: While "Evolution" featured cameos by Lil' Wayne, Faith Evans and Pharrell, "Something Else" sports no featured guests "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

I gotta cop that one in July. I hope Robin did something different with this one. His last one, Evolution, got a lot of spins in my CD player and I just couldn't get into his debut album that much. Check me out and add me on:

Exciting news! I love his first two albums. No special guests? Awesome. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

Great news! I was wondering what he was up to.I really enjoyed his last CD so I will definitely check this one out.
A modern-day R&B album without any guest stars? How refreshing!

Another new album? Damn, he´s fast! I am definitely looking forward to it. "When Michael Jackson is just singing and dancing, you just think this is an astonishing talent. And he has had this astounding talent all his life, but we want him to be floored as well. We really don´t like the idea that he could have it all."

It'll have been almost 2 years. That used to be normal pace. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis

That's great news. The Evolution of... was great and I will check out the new CD when it drops. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

It'll have been almost 2 years. That used to be normal pace. Two years? The time flies fast. Anyway, even two years for an MJ fan are a short period of time. You wanna sing soul music, marry a black woman, be down? Well, this is how they treat you! Here's your Black Card... and your reality check!" And Jay started chanting like the sideshow freaks in that old movie: "One of us! One of us!" [Edited 4/17/08 13:04pm] The Normal Whores Club
