It's complicated. I don't actually play Janet all that much at home. One or two songs every now and then. And my wife and I have got such different tastes in music that we have to listen to our music in separate rooms. I'm NOT kidding.

She does remember Janet's big hits here though. (That's hits ...) We're old(ish) duffers.

Okay forreal, if I had been in a coma up until the week Discipline was released... I wouldn't even know she had a new CD out. All promotion vanished once the CD was available. No more TV interviews, magazine covers, no one is playing the video for "Rock With U" and radio hasn't picked that one up either. She wasn't re-scheduled to appear on SNL, and she didn't do anything like an appearance on American Idol.

On the other hand, I see that Jermaine Dupri is so loyal to his wife Janet that he has sabotaged competitor Mariah Carey's new album with his God-awful productions.

Yeah I know what you mean. Where is she, sometime I think she don't really care about her music. My friends had no idea she had and album out until I showed them the cd at a music store. Then we started to chat about how sexual the cover is. Ay Ya Ya

From what I've read, a lot of people seem to think she's a liar.. which she might be! I just think we ALL have made some mistakes, so I'm willing to cut her some slack.

Also from what I've read, people seem to dislike Janet because she came from a privileged background--as far as the family was already living in L.A. when she was growing up. And.. I think a lot of people seem to dislike her because she isn't of her own creation?? I dunno.. I think some might think she's spoiled?

It seems a lot of people don't think she has much of a work ethic??? Also.. it seems that a lot of people think she's gotten by on her looks.

I think people are disappointed because they want to believe in Janet.. that she was more than maybe what she is, ya know? Maybe she isn't all that deep??

I think people might just be disappointed in her more than dislike her.

But..I dunno.. I've always thought she seemed pretty nice and kind..probably loyal to a fault.

I love janet but wish she'd do an album where there's 90% songs as opposed to 90% interludes!

Mariah's album is okay for the fact that guests are kept to a minimum except when JD starts talking on every intro. When he isn't talking, he is dragging out his old Yamaha keyboard he produced with in the mid 90s like we won't notice.

it's a shame that some of the fast songs weren't pushed for the European market, with the right push they would have done really well. I know people who weren't feeling janet for a few years appreciating her again, but Touch My Body is considered way more popular.

Also, her performances of the discipline material during promo week were so weak, I couldn't believe it was the same Janet I saw on tour more than once, although the music videos and music were fine. Beyonce entertained me so much more last year in concert, and believe me, it was so hard to admit that.

Yeah.. I agree with you all... there has been something wrong--even all the way back to All4You..

I just hate to put it down to a "character" flaw like being lazy, disinterested, what have you.. when it might be more about that she's just "fragile" in certain ways.

according to you guys janet is failing... so why are you still teasing her and making nasty comments.... its not like she is annoying attention seeker all over the place just irritating people... janet is actually out of the spot light most of the time...

Whoever said Discipline isn't a dance album must be smoking. The first to singles off of it are House.

And Janet could do more than a minitour but a fullscale tour. She hasn't toured The EU since '97. But I consider it payback cause we didn't get Michael.

Discipline is DEFINITELY NOT a 'dance' album

there are like 3 songs on there you could dance (quickly) to, but that album was a let down to me cause it was too mid-tempo compared to what I was expecting
