I heard a sample of "Lady In My Life" from rapper Trae's "Swang", it was nice. Of course everyone knows of the LL Cool J sample of it from "Hey Lover".

I get so annoyed when people my age hail Hey Lover-L L Cool J as a classic, and 2 friends of mine recorded a song over the beat, and I pointed out that her melody sounded like Somebody's Watching Me and that she sampled an mj song, and didn't even know it!

Loved this song!
Rod Templeton (formerly of Heatwave) is a very good songwriter. I thought his work on Thriller was some of the best of the 80s. Of course, Michael delivered on the vocals. Great song. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack

One of my favorite MJ songs ever. I think this song contains some of his best vocals also. I never tire of it. "And When The Groove Is Dead And Gone, You Know That Love Survives, So We Can Rock Forever" RIP MJ
"Baby, that was much too fast"...Goodnight dear sweet Prince. I'll love you always

I think it's the only song where he's convincing as a 'lover'. It's great and the vocals are incredible.
Such a shame he lost the funk & soul and started churning out a load of save the children, paranoia songs later in his career when his voice was largely reduced to a frightened sounding yelp.

Such a shame he lost the funk & soul and started churning out a load of save the children, paranoia songs later in his career when his voice was largely reduced to a frightened sounding yelp. I think the difference is MJ was produced by Quincy Jones, who is a great producer. He looks for songs that highlights the singer's talent. He found songs that MJ would song good with, songs that mj could capitalize on the energy to dance to... these are MJ's strenghts. Once MJ "made it big" then he could pick what HE thought would be best... saving the children, and later promoting his right to privacy. These are both admirable projects... but the don't sell records... Quincy was in the business to sell records. Just like Flyte Time productions and Janet. Once Janet got away from good producers, chosen for their talent in PRODUCING and starting picking songs to project an image... instead of letting good songs put you in spotlight so that your own style becomes the next "it" look... Janet went down hill as well. "Remember, one man's filler is another man's killer" -- Haystack
