J u s t i f i e d Don't hate me cause I like Justin Timberlake. I just downloaded his solo cd and it is tight! I don't know if its him as much as the producers. He hooked up with some good people that could make anyone sound good (like madonna). Get good production and some half decent songs and you got a hit. Don't hate until you listen.
1. Senorita 2. Like I Love You 3. What You Got 4. Take It From Here 5. Cry Me A River (this is a hit) 6. Rock Your Body 7. Nothin' Else 8. Last Night 9. Still On My Brain 10. Take Me Now, (And She Said) 11. Right For Me 12. Let's Take A Ride 13. Never Again It's not Off The Wall, but the boy does have some talent, even if its just who to work with. I am jammin to it. ---------------------------------

Actually
Justin was very involved with the making of this album. He wrote 10 of the 13 songs. Of course they are collabos, but the album has the sound that HE wanted. The record company gave him control of his music. I guess they had faith. He did not let them down. I'm digging this album. I really didn't want to like it, but as I Was listening the following happened.: I like this song, the next song can't be better Damn this on point, it's better than the last. Here is a song by song review. 1. Senorita- Great song, great beat, about telling a girl U could treat her better than her man. The call and response at the end. This is the Jam 2. Like I Love You- Love the live drums, spanish guitar licks. Pharell played it live 3. What You Got- Oh no! this song is sick. Timberland went off on this. The chorus is catchy. Real head nodder. 4. Take It From Here- Sweet slow song. Really touching. I can Jam to this all the time- I can't believe I can like a Justin timberlake Slow song. This is on point though 5. Cry Me A River- A straight Diss to Britney. Great song. I can listen to this on repeat forever. A tight race for best track of the album. 6. Rock Your Body- this song is Straight Funky/Dance orientated. Reminds me of some Prince Stuff. Talks about getting a girl ont he dancefloor, and getting her naked. IF this realeased it'll blow up. Album just gets better. This is probably my favorite song. 7. Nothin' Else- Stevie Wonder impression. But it is done with class, and the percussion on this song is great. A really touching song. totally relate to it. I am relating to an N'syncer. At this point, this shows me that I can forget abotu N'sync and say Justin I can't hate. 8. Last Night- Another good song, about Britney again? Vocals are a little Nasaly, but I can deal with it. Another head nodder. Really catchy. 9. Still On My Brain- Another great slow song. Damn, the slow songs on here would be serious consideration for the All time Slow Jam tape. A braekup song, how he wants to walk away, but the girl is still on his mind. Damn Justin. 10. Take Me Now, (And She Said) This is with Janet Jackson. This is for the clubs. I think it will be the 3rd single. Doesn't sound like basic Timbaland. But it's still the Jam. Only thing I'm going to complain about is Janet doesn't moan. 11. Right For Me- The cadence in the lyrics on this song is sick. I Actually love this song. It's just different and I can nod my head. Alomst like He's singing/rapping at the same time. I can do without Bubba Sparxx verse. It takes away from the song a tad. Still love it though 12. Let's Take A Ride- Worst song on the album, but It's still a good song. Just a nice breezy track, about taking your girl away from life's trouble's 13. Never Again- Damn Brian Mcknight. This is the best song you've written since One Last Cry. And Justin puts his heart into it. Damn Damn damn Great album closer. Well you can officially take me out of the I hate Justin Timberlake Fan club. He definatley impressed me on the album. True he collabs with the Neptunes and Timbaland, but you can tell this has Justin's fingerprint's all over it. He actually takes the producer's to another level. This is a great Album. Period. Album Flow- 9 Song Quality- 9 Production quality- 9 Timlessness- 7(I will listen to this album for a long time) Overall- 9

Hey Wahday, thanks for the track-by-track review!! That's the way an album should be reviewed.I hate when a person says "this CD is great" without telling us exactly WHY they think it's great.I prefer thorough,track-by-track reviews:)

Justin is trying to "justify" his interest and influences from African American artists... He shouldn't. Stop "Pop-locking" like Mike. He's too big to dance like Mike. Mike was only like 105 lb.s! Stop trying to sound like "Off The Wall". He's mumbling.
Justin needs to just sing.

Good lord, I just listened to this album. If this is the future of popular music, count me out.
There are only two decent songs on the album: Like I Love You, which I didn't like first dozen times I heard it (and I'm still not entirely convinced that I do now). and... Rock Your Body, which is a decent attempt to update Rock With You and Get On The Floor (although the lyrics are a little too close for comfort). I was pretty disappointed with Invincible when it came out, but he first three tracks on that album alone are better than anything on Justified.

I've only heard "Like I Love You"... and it's very Michael-ish... not that I mind that, just don't call it the "future" if ur playin' the past!
He is a talent, contrary 2 what most will say... the boy can sing. Do I own the disc? No. Will I buy it? Most likely, no. Will I download it? Of course! |

His falsetto sounds like a cat being raped.
Really, this guy is pissing me off. I think he's a talented impersonator, but the boy is so irritating. Have you heard all the inconsistencies in what he says in interviews? He changes his maind every week according to who he's talking to, who the audience is and what country he's in. It's bordering on desperate. I'm amazed that the promotion for his record has been so huge considering the rather "slightly-above-mediocre-for-this-numb-time-for-pop-music" album that he's trying to sell. I just hope the public doesn't fall for it. They probably will, but it won't last. I've heard DJs and critics already starting to point out his inconsistent statements about his music and influences.

Here are two more reviews of Justin's album by NME and LA Times:
www.nme.com/reviews/11006.htm Justin Timberlake : Justified This is, culturally, a significant album. Not because of the music (we'll come to that in a minute) but because it's the first concerted attempt by a white teen artist to cross over to a black audience since George Michael. It's a sign of the times - an indication that teen pop in America is dead on its feet and that the 'urban' (ie black) audience is running the Billboard Hot 100. In USA 2002, it's all about Ashanti, not Britney; Nelly and Kelly, not Gareth and Will; Murder Inc, not Cheiron, the Swedish studio that furnished everyone from the Backstreet Boys to Westlife with hits. In one way - as Nelly argued in NME a few months ago - this is a triumph. Despite two decades of attempts to censor, denigrate and suppress the rock'n'roll of black America (attempts which still go on today - witness Virgin Radio's pathetic boast that they don't play hip-hop or R&B), it's nevertheless clawed its way to commercial supremacy, largely without watering itself down or selling out to whitey. Which brings us to 'Justified'. If you were a talented black vocalist, how would you feel about a white *N Sync member with a half- decent voice getting, apparently effortlessly, the cream of black hip- hop and R&B to co-write and produce his debut solo album? We think you'd be justified in feeling pissed off. 'Justified' sees Timberlake poncing off black talent - Timbaland and The Neptunes - because that's the commercially savvy thing to do. Unlike, say, Dusty in Memphis, Bowie in Philadelphia or Eminem in LA, he brings nothing to the table other than his own celebrity status. Vocally, Usher, to pick a random example, could have him for breakfast. Lyrically (presumably the reason every track bears his co- writing credit) all he's got are soppy platitudes that may or may not be about Britney. Though NME has only heard the album once (Jive won't let it out of their office for fear of bootleggers), Timberlake, having failed to imprint his personality on 'Justified', simply stands or falls on the strength of the songs. Luckily for him, half a dozen of them - mainly Timbaland's - are brilliant. Next single 'Cry Me A River' melds analogue synthesizers, Arabian riffs and Gregorian chants into something infinitely graceful and mysterious. '(And She Said) Take Me Now', featuring an inaudible Janet Jackson, judders thrillingly though disco, '80s funk and dub. The Neptunes' 'Rock Your Body' could easily fit onto 'Off The Wall' (interestingly, some of the tracks on 'Justified' were originally rejected by Michael Jackson). But Justin isn't the reason they're brilliant - and that's what sticks in the throat. Alex Needham Rating: 6 www.calendarlive.com/musi...ov03.story Justin Timberlake "Justified" Jive Teenage girls aren't the only ones enamored with 'N Sync's most popular member. In a 2000 Calendar survey asking record executives to name the most valuable pop properties, several cited Timberlake. One even said that he could be the next Michael Jackson. Timberlake hopes they are right. In much of his debut solo album, you get the feeling that he's been dreaming for years about being the new Michael. But he's still dreaming if he thinks he has pulled it off -- even though he has talked Janet Jackson into singing with him on one song. "Like I Love You," the first single from the album, comes closest to "Off the Wall"/"Thriller"-era Michael. Timberlake's voice has that familiar breathless, almost whispered quality and sensual tension, and the well-crafted track is nicely updated with some edgy rap touches by Clipse. Working with such savvy producers as Timbaland and the Neptunes, Timberlake certainly moves dramatically past his 'N Sync goo, although there is still something faceless about his tales of longing for or celebrating intimate encounters. Timberlake can talk about being able to finally make the music in his heart, but it sounds like nothing more than the music he and his producers thought could get him onto the charts. And before anyone says we need to cut the youngster some slack because he's just 21, remember that Michael was 21 when he made "Off the Wall." --- IMO Justin's new album is so contrived and orchestrated (he is desperately trying to reach the urban scene by marketing himself as the new Michael "Off The Wall/Thrller era" Jackson) that he comes across as phony wannabe. It funny to see him trying to steer clear from the MJ comparisons now, especially during that lame MTV Awards performance saying that he was paying tribute to Frank Sinatra...yeah right back in the day Frank pop locks, wore black and red and grabbed his crotch ROFLAMO. The new MJ? Keep Dreamin.

I am really surprised to see somebody on this site actually post that Justin Timberlake is the future of funk music. I haven't heard his new album, I don't deny he could be considered talented, but for real now, does he even play any instruments? Horns? Bass? Drums? Are there any elements of funk in his music? If he is the future I'm crawlin into a hole with my Prince cd's right now and I ain't comin out!
