Annie Lennox on Idol last night... wow. (oh, and Fergie + Heart too) there was a very moving intro video where Annie takes a family of four boys raised by the eldest (15 years old) to get HIV tests. the rest of their family had already died from it. they all tested negative. but Annie really lost it at the end. it was a very emotional piece. and then she performed.

Oh, and Fergie horned in on Heart's performance.

Is this American? Can anyone tell that silences in songs are not meant to be clapped in? I fervently dislike US Tori Amos live recordings, cuz the audience just keeps shouting their fucking requests through intro's of songs. And yes. Annie. Stellar. I love her.

Wow. I love her. I especially like that part when she stops playing for a second, and everybody starts clapping.
Thanks for the clip Raze.

i am NOT a big american idol fan .... however ... its ON in my house alot ...
after the HEART/Fergie performance - i ran downstairs and said "if you had told me before that - that Heart was gonna perform with fergie ... i woulda thunk 'trainwreck' --- however that was very good !" i did see the Annie Lennox ... and that was good too ! however ... on the downer ... Miley Cirus (or whatever her name is ... ) .... i couldnt help but think .. she would NOT even make the cut on American Idol for the top 12 ... Colonel Angus may be smelly. colonel angus may be a little rough . but deep down ... Colonel angus is very sweet.

Vocally she was ok, I have seen her better, musically she was ok, emotionally it was phenom.
Loved the song, but even on a less than perfect performance she still brought me to tears which is why she is an artist, where Beyonce can sing every run in the book and it still doesn't move me in any way. Fergie by the way was a disgrace... terrible and she looked like she really thought she was tearing it up. Carrie Underwood again steals the show with a brilliant vocal performance with restraint and humbleness that some other so called diva's choose not to ever accept or try [Edited 4/11/08 14:17pm] Music is the best...

I'm used to the UK version of Cowell's talent show, X Factor, so when I watch American Idol i'm always shocked, and a bit queazy, at all the songs about Jesus and the Lord. Not to mention the country and western.
Also, why does Paul Abdul pretty much 'love' everything ? Perhaps some US orgers could help me out here....
