I gotta try doing that. But it seems like it would be so emotionally drainng to listen through.

Emotionally draining, yes... but can be a good release all the same.

I can't even listen to that one anymore. Very rarely is something too deep for me to listen to. I still have the album, but that's one of the songs I haven't been able to listen to. And the odd thing is that I CAN'T relate. I hope I never have to.

Many of Stevie Wonder's best ballads usually do the trick! Did you catch the tribute on BET last night? Awesome stuff... His new song was fantastic.

Marvin Gaye"Mercy,Mercy,Mercy Me,"what's Going On,Sam Cooke A Change is Coming,Earth,Wind&Fire"Keep Your Head too The Sky,Stevie Wonder's "As","living for The City",.His New Song I think was alright.I saw the Show.I Liked the JA Rule T-SHIRT OF Stevie when He was 13 that was tight.KC&Jo-JO went off on "Lately".but in all honesty typical B.E.T type of Show.it was missing a Edge.Elton John renaming Stevie Stevie R. was funny on the Piano.Gerald Levert Sung a ton of songs.Brian Mcknight did a Tribute as did Kelly Price&Gerald Albright.good seeing Roy Hargrove on Stage doing His thing.Chante Moore also.Fred Hammond&Choir did there thing.

Well, these songs don't necessarily make me cry,but they do move me and I get all emotional when I hear them...

***"Until You Come Back To Me (That's What I'm Gonna Do)" Aretha Franklin (1974)---This is my favorite Aretha song.Something about her vocal delivery on this tune just drives me crazy! I love the bridge, where she begs "Hear my plea,I've got to make you see, that our love, our love is dying".

***"Wishing On A Star" Rose Royce (1977)---I love the wistful feel of this song,it's like you're longing for something (or someone) who is no longer there. You gotta feel sorry for this lady when she sings "I never thought I'd see,a time when you would be,so far away from home,so far away from me".

Some songs that are not necessarily sad but they remind me of something that makes me cry.
Like "He loves me" 826+ /Jill Scott.

And by the way I'm back.

Many, many songs by Bob Dylan make me cry. Nobody writes songs like Bob. Regardless of what anyone says about this man, he is a true musical genius and writes the most beautiful songs that just break my heart. I wish more people appreciated him and his music. He is truely one of the best.

Sorry RDHULL, but I don't have time to name them. I can tell you that I own many cd's and love them all. I would recommend that you try "blood on the tracks" and "time out of mind" if you want a good cry. All songs on those two cd's make me very emotional.

I heard the same about his new song he performed..didnt catch the show though..I heard some of the people were triflin, not giving Stevie his proper due. As in having folks like Dru Hill etc perform hs material. Where were the classic people who can really sang? Patti, Chaka, MJ, etc.who have had a professional relationship with him. Fuckin BET.

I know Blood...and more. But if he makes you cry, you cant name 3 songs? I didnt say name them ALL. If he has so many in his repetoire that choke you up, you should be able to name like one in a heartbeat. Like this:

I Shall Be released.

That one chokes me up

Knockin On Heavens Door...that one too

now see how easy that was?

That sounds like a great idea! I think I'll do that too.

A song on Tori Amos's new album brought me to tears today. It's called "Your Cloud".

She has others:Winter & Cool On Your Island

Also

Patti Griffin - Top of the World
Pink - Family Portrait
Prince - Empty Room, Another Lonely Christmas
Alanis Morrisette - Perfect, That I Would Be Good

That's all I can think of for now... cry

jimi hendrix - drifting
stereolab - rainbo conversation
portishead - it could be sweet
sade - war of the hearts

funkadelic - groovallegiance --i don't know why this one hurts... maybe it's because i think that all the vocalists singing on it truly believe what they are singing. does that make any sense?
