Hell yeah. Every time I hear "Make Up Your Mind", I think of the episode of one of my favorite TV shows, "WKRP in Cincinnati", where Venus sneaks two of his ladies in the DJ booth and they are eating Chinese food when Les comes in and catches them. This song is playing during that segment.

Man,...I've tooted Slave's horn on here many times. Slave is the shit. They kept funk rock on the radio and kept it raw when many others started going pop or disco. Or both. Can I say enough about my man Mark "Drac" Hicks? No, I don't think I can. Hail to a brutha that threw down on one of the greatest rock guitar solos to ever grace black radio. They had it all, especially when Steve joined. Great musicianship, great vocals, great hooks. They were doin' it and keeping the musicianship all out and up front. Just like I like it. The bass guitar was ALWAYS to the fore. No mistake who's band it was! "Snapshot" was the supreme jam. So much of Slave is bangin'. I have all of their shit.

clapping In your post,I know you're referring to "Slide"....that truly is one of the greatst rock guitar solos ever heard on black radio.

I'm trying to tell em'!

I have the "Best Of" CD which is the second picture you posted. I saw the 2 CD set of the first picture you posted but I know I had seen a volume 2 of the "Best Of" CD that I already have so I've been hoping it would turn up somewhere again.

As for the first picture you listed, I'm thinking about going ahead and buying it, even though it has sooooo many of the tracks I already have on the "Best Of" CD. I have several 2 CD sets that have the same cover art as the first picture you listed such as Sister Sledge and Grandmaster Flash, and both are pretty thorough and contain full length album or 12 Inch versions.

Yeah, this one's still around...if you already have part1 this is the way to go...if you don't have either, then grab the definitive collection...

Yep. That's the one I saw a few years ago and haven't seen it since. I'd rather try to find it before getting "The Definitive Collection" so I won't be buying so many duplicate songs that I already have.

I think I remember you hating the place, but you could probably find The Definitive Collection at Wal-Mart for cheaper than you'd get More of the Best.

Oh, I've seen "The Definitive Collection" at the local owned record store which is in walking distance of my house. As for saving money at Walmart, I'd end up spending that money in gas to drive up there, not to mention circling the parking lot seven or eight times looking for a parking place. lol

Stone Jam is definitely an essential album. One of the greatest funk albums of all time. Absolutely NO filler.
Also features one of my top 10 songs of all time, Watching You (which also is the first Slave cut I ever heard)

Actually, come to think of it, their first six albums are all essential lol

I was just listening to some cuts off of the Bad Enuff album yesterday. Released in 1983, but doesn't sound "too" eighties, at least not the cuts I listened to. Gotta cop that album at some point.

Is New Plateau any good?

New Plateau is not too good. Mark Adams sounds good, that's it.

Dayton... I've met Adams several times playing on the same ticket with them. Very cool dood..told me everything he used for effects on all those classic tracks....what a lot of people don't know is when they recorded "Slide" he and Drac were 16 and 17 years old!?!?!? So the bulk of the classic tracks Adams recorded were before he reached the age of 21!?!

Back in the day...Monsters....there are a couple of "Slave" bands out now...with Drac and Adams each fronting....IMO Adams tries to keep everything more true to the original sound with horns and everything.

"Stone Jam" and "Show Time" are definitive albums. nod
