I gotta let this out: Erykah Badu's new album sucks, and by virtue of all her albums I am beginning to think she does.

I mean, really. That may be the only album i've ever bought without liking a single track, and i DO include "Discipline". But that's just my opinion, bringing da heat. flipped off

I'm not loving either of them myself. Thought I would, but Erykah's is just a little too self-consciously weird and Gnarls is not weird enough or something.

I do like Honey, though music

I didn't even get the album, but I did get tickets to the show. She's a good live act and her bands are usually tight. So, it's just a party. She has enough music that I dig to enjoy the experience. Although, I was less than impressed by her previous album. I really liked the first two studio albums though.

Not unlike Tori...

Every ensuing Badu record is more direclty just for the hardcore FANS and less directed at pleasing the pop charts

Baduizm...Mama's Gun...WWU...NA

It's just fact.

I'm really sorry to read these comments. Badu's new one kicked my ass and then some! Best album of the year so far and I'm still loving it! The Healer? Soldier? Master Teacher? Solid album all the way through and I can't wait for the next couple of parts...

...and I stay woke.

No, no. Mama's Gun is one of the best albums of the decade.

Hmmm...I sense a lot of hate in this post...but I don't care:

Mama's Gun > New Amerykah > WU > Baduizm

Musically, this album is killin' the game. Not that it's ahead of it's time or anything but Erykah threw a curve ball with this album that's definitely throwing people off.

Sorry to those who can't get on the train.

And for the "NA" lovers: Isn't the 2nd half of "Master Teacher" AMAZING. The first time I heard it, I thought I was going to freakin' die ----> angel ----> cloud9 That keyboard line is heavenly and listening to it puts me in a zone every time. IMO, that section is the best thing about the album.
...extraordinarily opinionated...wink
