What are your Top 5 R&B albums?

It doesn't matter if it's contemporary or old-school, what do you like? I'm curious and want some new ideas.

Wow, that's hard. Because I classify some albums as soul and others as R&B.

I think Me'Shell Ndegeocello's Bitter might be in my top 5.

The term R&B is too nebulous for me to flesh out a definitive Five. I will say, however, that Bitter is in that list.

I can go so far as to say I was lost in the album at one point.

I don’t know if these are classified as R&B but here are some contemporary soulful staples that I can throw on at anytime and still enjoy:

True to Myself – Eric Benet
Urban Hang Suite – Maxwell
Mama’s Gun – Erykah Badu
Bitter – MeShell Ndegeocello
Who Is Jill Scott? – Jill Scott
Bonus: Love Jones Soundtrack
Been gone for a minute, now I'm back with the jump off

Ahhh....Loved the "Love Jones" soundtrack. Trina Broussard's remake of "Inside My Love" and "Hopeless" are masterpieces (along with most of the other trax on the album). biggrin

I love it all too. "I Never Thought I'd See The Day" makes me feel deeply sad and peaceful at the same time. "Haunt Me" does similar things.

"Keep Looking" is the smoothest, sexiest, most effortless self-help song I can think of.

"Nothing Can Come Between Us" is my joint on this cd. The groove is so infectious.

A list that represents each of the eras over the last 30+ years. As for the comment highlighted above, I'd respectfully mention Let's Get It On as an alternative.
