in honor of tori's best tour! (a shrine of sorts)

i was fortunate enough to go to 7 shows on this tour, up and down the west coast. i will always remember this tour...it was her best, i feel, and it was definitely my favorite. the different characters seemed silly at the time but now i find myself identifying with the concept much more.

anyway...here are some of my favorite shots from my experience with the tour. and remember not to judge me too harsh in those last two photos...not much sleep and a lot of traveling can make someone look pretty tired, lol!

Aww man, don't sweat it. You're with your #1 bitch. You make each other exponentially hotter just being together.

Plus, all I see is that WIG!!!!! and 2 of my friends looking very happy.

Jason, these are incredible. Thank you so much for putting them up ~ they bring back such great memories of one of the best concerts I've ever seen (yeah, I only saw one but it was stellar!!!).

Thanks for the pictures. They're lovely.
I love Tori, but I have to say I was a little dissapointed in her last tour. Mabye she was just having an off night when I saw her, but I didn't like it as much as some of her earlier tours. I didn't really get into the character thing. The wig and costumes I found a little distracting.
I guess it's a matter of personal preference but the songs she chose the night I saw weren't my favorites. She didn't seem that into it, like she was bored or something.
I guess I prefer her to do more solo songs, I found the rest of her band a little overpowering.

it really was a great tour.

yesterday was the last day to buy the concerts from her legs and boots website so i felt it was appropriate to put a tribute thread up now.

now we'll just wait for the dvd (which were two of the shows i attended)!

It was in Washington, DC. If you look on one of her fan sites at the reviews, you will see that everyone said it was not her best show. I have a friend who saw her in another city and she really liked it. I think it was just a bad night.
The whole night was one big mess for me. They made the time of the concert earlier at the last minute and didn't email people to tell them. So I got there after she had already started. Also, there was a downpour and there is no parking at the venue and it was seven blocks from the nearest subway station. So I guess after walking seven blocks through the rain, I wasn't in the best mood.
You'd think she'd be extra excited to perform here in DC since she grew up in this area, but for some reason her shows in this area are always her worst. Her previous show to this tour in Baltimore was sort of a letdown. But I still love her music. She's my second favorie artist after Madonna.

you know, i wasn't wild about the dc setlist. i thought isabelle's set was great but i don't care for jackie's strength or 1000 oceans (my two least favorite tori songs) and i think she did both that night back to back even. oh, and with leather coming right before those two...yeah, that could kill a show dead in its tracks. lol

sorry about that experience.

Of course that's one of the shows I bought. confused

I haven't listened to it yet, but obviously the setlist wasn't a problem for me. When I play it I'll try to hear if Tori was off in any way that night.

Did I miss the last shining moment she will ever have? neutral I'm still getting my tori wings so to speak and would love to see her if she goes on tour again. I LOVE the concept of the characters and am glad to see/hear that she brought them out in the performances. That is simply awesome clapping

Her voice was fine. It was more a general energy level and that the setlist wasn't my favorite Tori songs. It may not come through in the recording. But being there, I felt got the rest of the audience wasn't that into it either. So I"m sure you will enjoy the show if you like the songs she chose.

Okay, that isn't so bad then. I'll most likely give the show a listen today. The Chicago Pip show that Gangsta recommended was excellent. I listened to the Detroit show yesterday which was interesting for the bit where she runs offstage mid-song to take off her corset because it was too tight. The other two shows I have are Houston (with "Not David Bowie" love ) and Pip's Boston show.

I loved this show, and I was fortunate enough to see Pip in Toronto. I'd seen her twice on the Beekeeper tour, but the Pip ADP show kicked my ass and made me a fan after a decade of peripheral interest and despite being exposed to her constantly by my bf.

I loved it. Great show!

Did you like Beekeeper? Everyone I know seemed to love it and if it weren't for my obsession with Choirgirl, that album would have stopped my fledgeling fandom straight in its tracks lol

I thought Beekeeper was very bland, but the songs sound great live.

I like the songs on Beekeeper, but it all does kind of get to sound a little same-y. Which is okay for me on an album, but her albums are so long these days that it's hard for me to stick with 80 minutes in the same sort of groove (with anyone).

And I liked the Beekeeper show a lot. But it didn't grab me like Pip did.

this tour and record were amazing, without a doubt they were highlights of her career. that said, she's brilliant and you never know what's coming next. one thing is for sure...she's not interested in resting on her ass and coasting for the rest of her career.
