Recommendations for Woody Allen soundtracks? Since I'm on a roll with creating Music:Non-Prince threads that nobody in their right mind would respond to, I figured what the hell: I might as well toss out this question about a very specialized, antiquated, non-diva-centric realm of music that probably 0.0001% of the Org population might possibly care about. 
It's like this: I'm trying to figure out the best albums of Woody Allen film music to buy. I'm intrigued by one called "Woody Allen Classics", which is a collection of classical music used in his films. But I'm also interested in the old ragtime/jazz/novelty recordings. Is there a collection that does a good job of spanning the older movies with the newer ones? Something that has a good mixed bag? And I'm looking for original recordings here, not re-recordings by Woody and his band. Thank you in advance, Ace. 
And for the rest of you, I will be over my robot rock/Millie Jackson/Woody Allen soundtrack phase by the end of spring, I promise.  | |

I seem to recall the Hannah soundtrack having some classical sprinkled in amongst the old-timey pop music/jazz. I don't know if you've seen September, but this album 
is used to nice effect in that flick (all jazz obviously, though). Lemme do some research. Back in a flash! |

i'm definitely interested in the 'woody allen classics' disc now, and the last disc you detailed looks like a good one too. it looks like a pretty fair balance of the classical music and jazz music he uses in his films. i like the music woody chooses for his films, and i figured if i checked out some soundtrack comps, it might take me down a few musical paths i don't usually tread. or at the very least, i can listen to this music and re-live the scene where kirstie alley beats the crap out of woody in "deconstructing harry".  | |
