Yeah the only CDs I come across are editions created in the 80s.
In my area, they are much more readily available on (second hand) vinyl.

For starters, Brother, Brother, Brother (1972) is excellent. Someone on the org made a thread where they put the Isley Brothers albums in order of favorites and I realized how much material they had, and how little I had heard (compilations here and there or second hand) so I went and bought a bunch. I wouldn't mind seeing that thread again now that I have all these albums. Do you like their 1980 album, Go All The Way? [Edited 4/4/08 8:22am] Go all the way will always be my favorite isleys album because of my teenage love in middle school. Everytime i listened to don't say goodnight and say you will i would think about her. Here we go again and the title track are excellent and marvin burns up his bass on the belly dancer. Don't laugh at my funk

Cinnie said: This really is my favorite album right now. It actually sounds quite current... the way synths are in the mix. As if we didn't already know... I can hear the huge influence this might have had on R.Kelly through this album. I'm thinking fans of early New Edition would really like this album for the melodic ballad approach. The synth bass reminds me of some Rose Royce stuff, or even Zapp the way drum machines are mixed in. Does Prince ever namecheck the Isleys?

Good. Thanks for your guidance, AlexdeParis.
No problem. The Isleys have plenty of great music to discover. I can easily say they're one of my all-time favorites. "Whitney was purely and simply one of a kind." ~ Clive Davis
