This is one of the good Lenny Kravitz songs in my opinion that I just a few hours ago happened to listen to:

Altough you might prefer instrumental music and let your thoughts freely shape according to your own feelings.

I don't know the material myself, but I read that Lucinda Williams' last album was lyrically influenced by a break up in a relationship but also, which is appropriate here, the loss of her mother.

Like I say, I don't know the songs myself, so they may or may not be appropriate or a comfort to you, but Google the lyrics and see if this music speaks to you at this time, I guess is the thing to do.

All the best.

Anxiety

when i was in a similar situation last fall, i listened to a lot of semi-recent patti smith. her album "gone again" has a lot of songs dealing with loss, and i found it really comforting. also, my mother was a big music fan, so i listened to a lot of the music she liked.

Lady in my life - Michael Jackson

Mama - Boyz II Men

3 times a lady - Lionel Richie

If you ask me to - Pattie Labelle

Dear Mama - Tupac

My mom is still here with me but when I hear those songs, It reminds me of her and I have a tear or two come out my eye. I eventually call her to let her know how much I love her and think about her.

Jordan Hill Remember Me This Way

Every now and then
We find a special friend
Who never lets us down

Who understands it all
Reaches out each time you fall
You're the best friend that I've found

I know you can't stay
A part of you will never ever go away
Your heart will stay

I'll make a wish for you
And hope it will come true
That life would just be kind
To such a gentle mind
If you lose your way
Think back on yesterday
Remember me this way
Remember me this way

I don't need eyes to see
The love you bring to me
No matter where I go

And I know that you'll be there

Forever more a part of me, you're everywhere
I'll always care

I'll make a wish for you
And hope it will come true
That life would just be kind
To such a gentle mind
If you lose your way
Think back on yesterday
Remember me this way
Remember me this way

And I'll be right behind your shoulder watching you
I'll be standing by your side and all you do
And I won't ever leave
As long as you believe
You just believe

I'll make a wish for you
And hope it will come true
That life would just be kind
To such a gentle mind
If you lose your way
Think back on yesterday
Remember me this way
Remember me this way

CeCe Winans Don't Cry
Here we are again
That old familiar place
where the winds will blow
No one ever knows the time nor place

(chorus)
Don't Cry For me
Don't shed a tear
The time I shared with you will always be
And when I'm gone, please carry on
Don't Cry for me

No one is the blame,
my death was meant to be
Don't carry guilt nor shame
The reason why I came soon you'll see

(chorus)

Don't cry when life is not the joy it should be
With life comes pain
Soon time will end this course appointed
and you will be rewarded
and all the world will see

Don't Cry For Me
Don't shed a tear
The time I shared with you will always be
And when I'm gone
Life still carries on
Don't cry for me
We'll always be
don't cry for me

Diana Ross Remember Me

Bye baby, see you around
Didn't I tell you I wouldn't hold you down
Take good care of yourself, y'hear
Don't let me hear about you shedding a tear
You're gonna make it
You're gonna take it

Remember me as a sunny day
That you once had, along the way
Didn't I inspire you a little higher
Remember me as a funny clown
That made you laugh when you were down
Didn't I boy, didn't I boy

Remember me as a big balloon
At a carnaval that ended too soon
Remember me as a breath of spring
Remember me as a good thing

Bye baby, see you around
I already know about the new love you've found
What can I do but wish you well
What we had was really swell
I won't forget it, I have no regrets

Remember me as a sound of laughter
And my face the morning after
Didn't the sky beckon us to fly?
Yes, you'l remember the times we fought
But don't forget me in your tender thoughts
Please darlin' oh yeah

Remember me when you drink the wine
Of sweet success and I gave you my best
Remember me with every song you sing
Remember me as a good thing

Remember me as a sunny day
Please darling, remember me as a good thing
Remember me when you drink the wine
Remember me as a good thing
Remember me as a big balloon
Don't forget me darling

hug

Sorry to wait so long to post a response but I saw your thread the other day but didn't have time to post (my boss was here lol ). I remembered it just now and searched until I found it on page 3 of this section.

First of all, my condolences and sympathy about your mother because I went through the same thing last August.

Anyway, I could list particular songs but the thing that made me feel better was to get together with my brother and a friend and listen to the most uptempo party songs that my mother used to love. It was also fun listening to songs that we knew she hated because we could laugh at the funny things she used to say about those songs. Or even songs that your mother didn't even know of but you have funny memories of your mother yelling...."turn that shit down". lol Fun and laughter has always made me feel better rather than just putting on something slow and thinking about how sad you feel.
