Because it's great fun lol Besides, try and create a separate thread to criticize an artist and watch it get locked and deleted. That's what happens around here so the mods force those with criticisms to post in the supportive threads themselves.....

Yeah, I have no idea why some people can't grasp the fact that this isn't a fan forum for their favourite artist (usually a diva). It's a place where people discuss music, love it or hate it. If you can't stand people dissing Mariah, Madonna, Michael, Janet, etc....what the hell are you doing here? They have their own forums for the dearly devoted.

Well said.

I just wish folks would figure out who they like and don't like and stop trying to trash other artists people actually like and want to discuss. And if you don't like said artist, give a REAL and CURRENT reason for discussion. Because if you're not listening to them and don't really care for the artist anyways, what good is it to trash someone that someone else likes? Saying in a thread about Madonna's new album "Madonna is a talentless has been wrinkly old hack" Doesn't help the discussion regarding the new album. IMO start a new thread!

missed.point.completely.

While it is not a fan forum for our favorites, the threads represent them instead. What is the point of going into any artist appreciation/news thread...say Tori Amos...and simply replying with :vomit: What does that say? What does that add to the discussion? Honestly if the thread is for an artist going into said thread simply to diss them is stupid and immature and negative.

For instance someone started a thread regarding trance music and wondered what others thought or maybe they were looking to explore the genre further. SOmeone came in and posted "Trance music is for Drug Addict Ravers" or some BS like that. No commentary on what Trance was about or who they liked or anything worth a brain synapse. THIS IS WHAT I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!!

Or many of the Mike Mantronik Threads that actually give useful information on a MIRIAD of artists up and coming projects. Most of those get trashed too. I'm just saying negativity begets negativity and if you were to put all of the negativity on this forum into little bottles, you'd have a lifetime supply of it.

So you're saying criticism with an actual point is OK? Cool then cuz I always have a reason why I hate someone when I say I hate them lol

Well the way I look at it is that NO ONE is above or immune to criticism, not even the man himself who this site is dedicated to. However, I do not get posters who continuously bash the same artists time and time again. What exactly are they getting out of it? The only person whose artists bashing posts I truly enjoy are Vainandy's. He's actually funny without being downright nasty and mean spiritied like some people on here and deep down I believe he is a big Whitney fan lol.

Like I said though I do believe criticism is fine and it's healthy because if everyone always agreed that would be boring as hell, but at the same time I'm not gonna constantly trash an artist I don't like. I think that says more about me than it does about them that you hate or dislike an artist so much yet you can't stop talking or posting about them? Where's the logic in that? I'd just much rather talk about music or artists that I do enjoy rather than those that I don't.

Criticism is fine. But the same old tired rehashes of how much an artist stinks and always have and they can't see what others do blah blah blah..I have no interest in reading that. Been there,, read that, no new points Moving on.

That it cuts both ways. Excessively negative and excessively positive are equally corrosive.

I'm just tired of seeing peeps who post on this thread vanish due to the negativity. It was bound to happen as Moo Moo, Janet and Madge all dropped their albums this year. Thank God we didn't get an MJ album during all of this. ***knocks on wood***

If you don't like an artist, flaunt it. If that artist is not capable of entertaining me with their music, then it is up to me to entertain myself by shitting on the artist. That way, the underserving artist has earned the right to call themselves an entertainer and has actually been entertaining in some sort of way.

Yep. I loved her on "Being Bobby Brown". I tuned in to see how horrible she looked, not Bobby. I even incorporated her famous phrase "hell to the naw" in my own speech. lol

MAn, I LOVE IT

This is what I love the most about Prince.org

And so far the artist I love to bash the most is Prince... Not because of Prince (I respect the man), but because of his fans, I just hate them...

They are the most arrogant fans ever...

They think they know everything about music and talk like if Prince is better than Jimi, Stevie, Sly, James Brown, Little Richard all combined, and how music didn't exist before Prince, and how Prince never borrows from other artists

So I love to confront them and how they have such a hard time to argue with me because I know so much more ... lol

Have I ever anywhere on this board told anyone that they were an idiot for listening to what they listen to? No. I simply state what I like or don't like. If they have a different taste than me, then they just do.
