New Kids on the Block have returned

All five original New Kids on the Block members – Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight – will appear together on the Today show on April 4.

After months of speculation, PEOPLE confirmed in January that the band is reuniting – just in time to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their mega-hit album Hangin' Tough. The group also recently updated its Web site, nkotb.com.

The boy band, which made legions of tweens swoon in the early '90s, selling more than 50 million albums, became a worldwide phenomenon before calling it quits in 1994. Since then, the oldest "Kid," Jonathan Knight, 39, retreated back to Boston to become a real estate developer. Former members Wahlberg, 38, and McIntyre, 35, have seen acting success, while Wood, 38, has worked as a music producer and Jordan Knight, 37, has continued to record.

Wow, I never would of thought this would really happen. Setting my Tivo for sure!

Old farts on the Block for sure, I'm just curious as to what they could possibly be up to.

I'm an ex-crazy ass Blockhead and still to this day remember EVERYTHING about those fools. I can't remember what I did last week but I can tell you what their fav colors are.

So I will tune in just to see what the hell they are planning. I can't imagine them back on the scene. confused

Probably some selected performances. New Edition is still out there too. Then again, they've never really split up unlike New Kids if you think about it. smile

How about these new names, more appropriate seeing the age of the members?

Rotarians On The Block?
Golf Scramble Team On The Block?
Slow-Pitch Softball Lineup On The Block?
Deep Sea Fishing Party On The Block?

Seriously, though, Donnie was good in Band of Brothers.

Apart from Bobby's drug problem & broken marriage, New Edition manage to still exist with just Ralph, Ronnie, Ricky, Mike, & Johnny.

Updated their website? There's nothing there but a form to sign up for info.

Speaking of New Edition--their website is pretty sweet, even if it hasn't been updated, either. www.newedition20th.com

50+ years of recorded "popular" music, the whole spectrum of life's experiences and the human condition expressed in an almost infinite number of ways, sometimes beautiful, sometimes shocking, sometimes fun, sometimes painful...

and yet there are people left on this planet that give a flying fuck about New Kids on the Block. eek

Sorry, it's just hard to let my inner 14 year old see them in their mid to late thirties. They are eternally teenagers to me.

Man, I've been telling folks that boy bands and vocal groups were gonna be on fire again. Right now the trend is to be a solo act, going by one name, and featuring a different fool on every track....and sucking azz.

hah! today's music

What's funny is Vh1's bands reunited tried to get the members
back together a few years ago and i think they were tracking
down a couple of them and i think it was jordan knight who said
no and the group would reunite on their own terms. We'll see
how this goes.

of course the name doesn't fit anymore. But the Backstreet Boys and Pet Shop Boys are no boys anymore as well...

I didn't live in Amercia in 1990, and in Germany I believe they were never a great act. But let's face it: there songs don't have much substance, Jordan can't sing nor the others...

I wonder what they'r eplanning but those old-.fashioned step routines and Step By< Step...

If they have a nice song they may attract their original songs, but they won't have much impact on the current music scene!!!
