Pretty much all the "rockers" under 40. Green Day, Good Charlotte, etc. They all sound the same, and they're all several generations behind in musical knowledge.

They all need to retire, and the next generation needs to start all over with rock n' roll. They need to start as if it was 1988.

Regarding the comments about radio if anybody who cares to answer this...

Slightly off topic but is there ever a threat that radio could die out? Aside from satellite, and regular talk, sports and news are music stations loss of listeners ever a serious threat to the radio industry?

I was in my car without my iPod (tragic) and turned to a default station only to find out it was no longer there due to lack of listeners. I was stunned and yet I wasn’t.

Michael Jackson basically has been retired since he was 36 years old.

Mariah Carey cant sing, she is a joke, she is hiding out in rap & b lol rolleyes

Diddy. Who saw the guy on the finale for making of the band. He LIP SYNCED his rap verse. This guy is busting everyones balls about voices, etc. But then he lip synces rap? wow. Leave!

Kiss sucks! They just have always sucked, but they are even worse now! I saw a concert of theres on VH1 Classics and it was filmed in 1996 and they sucked then. I can't even imagine now. They were a fun kiddie gimmick in 1978. They have like what 4 or 5 known/decent songs

Or leave that radio OFF and play yer own music.

Thats what I do too.

After 2003, I turned off every mainstread radio channel(minus Wendy Williams show, coz its one of my guilty pleasures).

Fact is, I rarely listen to radio at all, which made it easier for me to brush it off.

My Ipod is my radio and stereo. I play it in my house, when I go I hook it up in my car's speaker and when I get off I take it with me.

Andy, you should do the same.

I don't know how ANYONE who has deep sense of music appreciation could have been listening to mainstream radio for the last 10 years! disbelief

I listen to internet and satellite radio, if I'm going to do any radio at all.

Yes, R. Kelly needs to retire...to a nice 4 X 4 jail cell with just a sink, a toilet, and 400-pound 'roommate' named Larry,...seriously, why is this guy still allowed to be walking the streets, peeing on kids, and making hot steaming piles of doo-doo that seep through my radio speakers? There's no changing the channel. Any R&B station that plays current music is overrun with shit hop. If you change the channel, you get the exact same thing, just a different station. The only other alternative for R&B is the oldies stations, which is what I keep my dial on. However, there is plenty of need for bitching because no good new R&B gets made when everyone just keeps tuned to oldies stations and keeps their mouths shut about the current state of R&B. The problem is, there is not enough people bitching.

Since I moved out here in Little Rock almost 2 years ago, I manage to find only 2 FM radio stations worth listening to. One plays mostly the 70's & early 80's, the other plays most today's neo-soul. But both stations needs more funk on it.

As for who I think should retire, not really retired but hip-hop and R&B needs to have a nasty divorce from each other.

Unfortunately, that's not going to happen though because the record labels see how cheap it is to make and they are not about to spend more and decrease their profits. I hope all the downloading and friends making copies for their friends becomes the downfall of the record labels and runs them bankrupt. I encourage young people to make copies for friends because every copy they make is less money for the label and the shitty artist that didn't deserve a recording contract to begin with.

Forget about people downloading, I waiting for Wal-Mart's demands for the major record labels to lower their albums prices to kill the music industry.

Thats my attitude too.

All this talk about "End shit hop" is energy wasting. I don't have ANYTHING I don't like in my house, period.

My collection is a reflection of my love for music. I only collect artists that to me are valuable, in whatever way.

People are so adament in their dislikes here sometimes it becomes stale to some. It's often a hate-fest in here, not even about the music. And people bitching tells way more about them than it taints the artist the are dissing.

I mean, it's all so highschool. rolleyes I have stuff of every artist mentioned up til now, except Usher. That is not a reflection on Usher, just that he does not make music that appeals to me.

You've never been critical of an artist whose music you don't care for
whether it's here on the message board or elsewhere? Sorry, but that's life.
People criticize on sports forum, daytime talk shows, and sport talk shows.
Get used to it.

clears throat You could expand you horizons a bit. There's a whole musical world out there beyond R&B. Don't knock it 'til you try it, and all.

Who knows? There might just be a country fan lurking deep inside you. wink

Country? Oh, hell to the naw! Never! I don't know what group I can't stand more, thugs or rednecks. I don't own enough leather to protect me from the sport of pickup truck dragging. lol

I did expand my horizons in the mid 1990s. I got into pop and was enjoying stuff like Third Eye Blind's "Semi Charmed Kind Of Life" and whoever sings "Two Princes"....that type of stuff. Then folks like Jewel came along and a big wave of accoustical shit started taking over it. If it resembles country in the slightest, I can't stand it. As country as I get is Dolly Parton and even that has to be something slammin' like "Baby I'm Burnin'".

Yeah, we have an R&B station here that plays what I'm assuming is neo-soul (shit from the 1990s and today that has singing but never gets past midtempo and is boring as hell with no ass shake appeal whatsoever). Some of it sounds like it could have been influenced by jazz but it is done over those weak sounding drum machines. Fuck that. Speed the shit up. It's fucking rediculous that the whole R&B world has lost every ounce of rhythm.

There is one DJ on this station that absolutely throws down some old school funk and nice slow jams from the 70s and early 80s on Saturday afternoons, which is the only time I listen to the station. However, now even he is slipping in a 1990s song every now and then like Black Street, Jodeci, Levert, Boyz II Men, etc. I have to either turn the channel or turn the radio off every time he slips one of those songs in because they depress the living hell out of me. I blame a certain little goodie two shoes that started out in 1985 because slow dull adult contemporary R&B never dominated until she reared her ugly head.

I hate to admit it, but I'm starting to wish Janet would focus on acting for a while. I think she's a good actress. In fact, she has the potential to be great if she really put her mind to it. Cher won an Oscar for Moonstruck. I don't think it's out the the realm of possibility that Janet could find the right role for an Oscar winning performance.

I just think the "grind" of the music industry takes too much out of her. And I'm not sure she really enjoys it anymore. It's more like, she wants a "hit," to prove something rather than really being committed to a project. I just haven't seen a lot of enthusiam from her in a long time--even before the Super Bowl. She wasn't even that interested in touring for All4You, as I recall.

It would be cool if Janet took a role on Broadway.. or some really interesting part in a movie.

I also think that these so called rockers out there now like Fall Out Boy and OneRepublic all those acts that call themselves rock or punk whatever and they sound so fake and corny to me. It's pop with a guitar and bad pop too. I like rock to an extent and when I think of rock, I think of Aerosmith, Metallica, Motley Crue and The Rolling Stones. I'm sorry but Panic! at the Disco is not my idea of rock. Retire that shit NOW!
