Good topic. Im always amazed Gabrielle didnt have a couple of hits - shes done some pretty radio friendly stuff - but her image was very non-US. That said i would have thought they'd lap up Eternal. Maybe they were considered to be too En Vogue-lite.
Girls Aloud im not shocked by. Despite having some brilliantly brash pop music - its waaay too pop for America. Im always shocked Beverly Knight hasnt done more - both at home and in the US. Shes amazingly talented and has done some great stuff. I see the turds theyt hrow off the X-Factor / American Idol conveyorbelt, and she could out sing & perform all of them. leona Lewis is a no brainer for US success - thats why Simon Cowell loves her so much. Shes got that inoffensive blandness that lights up $ in his eyes. Girl maybe able to pretend to emote - but shes practically a phoetus - how much soul is really in that voice? Coming to think of it, there hasn't been that many great UK lady talents out there - in a pop sense. They're always either pale imitations of their american counterparts, or they're too un-commercial - Goldfrapp and Roisin Murphy who are making supremely better music than pretty much all other females out there. | |

hellomoto said: Well if your including girl groups in there then Leona Lewis is the first british female number 1 since 1997 since the spice girls had a number one hit with wannabe
Keep quiet about that. We're trying to forget it. If everyone agrees to never mention it ever again, then we may be able to banish it from memory.
