Lumidee & Nina Sky

So are they officially 1 hit wonders? They have not had any hits in years and they seem to have dissapeared into obscurity.

I can't even name Nina Sky's hit at the moment.

Lumidee is definitely an obscure `03 footnote

From what I remember, "Never Leave You (Uhh Ohh)" got fair amount of play on MTV at the time -- that summer when a lot of urban party joints were using some form of the Diwali Riddim beat. And at least where I was in New York City, it was THE JAM that summer. For me, the song felt like Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam for 2003, just some Hood Jam that folks bump in the summer. Speaking of Diwali Riddim, haven't heard much from Wayne Wonder after that either, but that was a jam too. And still is for me.

"Never Leave You" will always take me back to Summer '03 and the big Northeast Blackout. People running through fire hydrants uptown and the song blasting on car stereos in the middle of the day. I have a lot of personal memories wrapped around that song. She definitely hasn't come anywhere close to eclipsing that.

Nina Sky is pretty much a One Hit Wonder, I guess. "Move Ya Body" was the only real party jam from them that resonated above just urban-only play and had crossover success.

Their debut was MOR for the most part, but it was a breezy, play-it-in-the-background type CD. Decent cuts on there such as "Temperature's Rising," "You Deserve (feat. Betty Wright)," "Faded Memories" and "Runaway."

Usually, if the song lyrics are pretty simple and the hook is catchy as hell = 1 hit wonder.

Lumidee was on a Pitbull song last year, and I believe she released a cd in 07.

'You're turning me on' was pretty popular (funny I was just listening to it) and they sang the hook to whatshisface's song. That guy who's sometimes Puerto Rican when he wants to be, and has horrible Spanish diction, lol. The reggaeton thing. Nina Sky was basically new Lumidee -- stealing reggae beats Latinos razz
