I was in touch with Tomi Jenkins last week, and he mentioned that Cameo plans on releasing a double album this year and are redoing a few of the classics. Plus he has a re-worked version of his CD "The Way" coming out this year as well, with a single and video for "Come Correct" to be the first release. Can't wait! In bad need of a Cameosis fix!

Classic jam. Charlie's solo is killer. I also heard Tomi is putting out a solo CD with Jesse Johnson on guitar. Should be cool.

That's the song I mentioned; it's called "Come Correct", and as you'd expect - it's as catchy as if it were already a classic. But so far, that's the only cut with Jesse on it (from "The Way"). Brother T is doing Big Thangz!

Did he mention if Cameo will be touring this summer??? I actually asked him that, and he said that HE would be on tour before we'd see Cameo on tour. He seemed squarely focused on his solo work, and I didn't press him about Cameo too much - he didn't seem too eager to talk about the rest of the group. The only thing he mentioned about Cameo was that we'd be seeing a double album released this year. Actually, I asked him if we'd see any of Cameo's backlog re-released or remastered, and he said that they have no control over what happens with Cameo's past catalog; which is why I assume they're in the process of recording new masters of some of their past hits. There will be new material included in the double album as well.

I don't think that's Mr. Singleton on the solo but studio musician and sideman Pat Buchanan. It's been ages since I read the liner notes, do correct me if I'm wrong but I don't readily recall any mention of Charlie in the credits for the "Word Up" album. [Edited 3/28/08 10:10am]

I think charlie rejoined cameo on their disappointing emotional violence cd. Don't laugh at my funk

emotional violence cd. Wow! Such a trip that you refer to "Emotional Violence" as disappointing, when one of my most favorite songs of all time is on that CD: "Nothing Less Than Love". In fact, not a song on that CD that I don't love. To each his own I guess.

I liked the title track, another love, and the zany
don't crash but it seemed like cameo ran out of gas on this one and some of the songs seemed like weak rehashed songs the boys had already done. The vocals on some of the songs like front street was wack. Nevertheless i still love cameo especially the early stuff. Don't laugh at my funk

I hear ya. Just odd how people perceive things differently. "Emotional Violence" is one of my favorite CD's. In fact, for some strange reason I even have two copies of it on my shelf. But I don't think you're alone, as I purchased both of them for around two bucks each. I love it when I'm crazy about something that most people would give away for free! Don't hurt my feelings none! The lyrics alone in "Nothing Less Than Love" are extremely moving to me, and I think Larry did an excellent job on the vocals. And one of my most significant relationships featured NLTL as "Our Song". I even covered the song myself. Oh well, as I said: To each his own! And I KNOW you ain't Fakin' The Funk!

kstrat it's possible..but I do recall seeing Charlie's name on the liner notes. His tone and whammy bar (there's that word again..lol) scoops sound so much like his leads from his solo LP's. And Pat Buchannan is a bad playa in his own right too.
Have you seen Charlie's new custom built guitars? They look insane.

Have you seen Charlie's new custom built guitars? They look insane. Nope...Where can I get a glimpse of them. Are they Strat variants or something else that's really off the wall?

Have you seen Charlie's new custom built guitars? They look insane.[/quote Well I've found Charlie in the credits. What's pasted below is allmisic.com My copy of the CD is packed away so I can't get to it. This list doesn't specify who played on a particular track. I made the association of Pat Buchannan mainly because of the coverage he received in a short article in Guitar World around 1987. Silly me...LOL!
