Chaka Khan - what a GREAt artist

I love Chaka Khan. I'm too you to be supposed to know her (joking), as I#m only 19...but her voice is sooooo great. second to Aretha!!!
I'm Every Woman is, in my opinion one of the best vocal performances in pop history. I'm always afraid her

And some of her songs would be still even today mega hits. with teh same production!!
FATE is probably my favorite song. It makes me happy, and it's soo great. Ain't Nobody, Move Me No Mountain, I Know You, I Live You, What Cha' Gonna Do For Me...
the only song I think sounds dated is her prince cover... sounds a bit cheesy as well. especially that rap smile

what do you think. what's your favorite album? how's the one that prince produced???

I love Chaka Khan.Been a huge fan since her Rufus days in the 70s.

My favorite album is 'What Cha Gonna Do For Me' (1981).

'Come 2 My House',produced by Prince and released in 1998,is a good album. It gets a mixed reaction on this site, but I like it.

I just discovered her 1980 LP "Naughty" and it's a great piece of work. I love "Clouds." Great artist and she is legendary indeed.

The one that has 2 Prince productions is C.K.

Stickey Wicked is HOT. Some loud drum programming and Chaka doin a light rap over some horns by Miles...its good.

Eternity does justice and is much better than the version Sheena recorded.

I am so glad u found Chaka...man her vocals are heaven

when u can check out Rufus' "Street Player" album. Destiny, Blue Love, Best of Your Heart and Stranger To Love (and of course Stay), are some of the best tracks she ever recorded. Man ima listen to some Chaka on my break now...woman gives me chills.

Her latest FUNK disk is really good sans a couple of songs...

Her stuff with Rufus is a collection to go through for hidden gems, IMO not everything was golden.

she doesn't have the voice that she once did....shes was over weight and its affected her abilty to sing and perfrom....but no doubt she was a true talent. A unique voice that stood out. Sweet Thing is my favorite, along with Through the Fire...she even did the funk number with Miles Davis and Prince called Sticky Wicked

I love that f***ing song cool

my fav solo album of hers
is probably Naughty
and close runner up would be
Chaka Khan from 1982

my favorite album of hers with Rufus
is VERY hard to pick... if I
had a gun to my head I'd go with
"the pink one" (self-titled)
or Ask Rufus... it's really
impossible to pick a #1
they are all so near & dear to me

I love Ms. Yvette more than

yeah she's cool. I've known I feel for you since I was a baby, and discovered Aint Nobody when L L Cool J remade it for Beavis & Butthead. I can't believe the original is from 1983, it sounds so fresh even today.

Mine too nod I identify with her so much,,,its so hard and damn near impossible to put it in words. Its a buzz just listenin' to that bitch wail touched

Miles Davis compared her voice to his horn. That should kill any and every self-doubting idea in her brain.

I only give that song the time o' day for the fact that its autobiographical(like the rest of C.K.) but I'm glad, SOOOO GLAD that she herself regret her attempt on "rap".

Mmm mm mm disbelief Yevette Marie Stevens, what on earth were you strung out on? lol

funny thing about I Feel 4 U
I play that track
in the vehicle OFTEN
it just... feels so damn good
I remember when I went to see
Get Rich Or Die Trying
the scene where he & his mama
are in the car (when he was still young)
I damn near lost my mind
and was the loudest one singing along
ROTFL

my fav song from that album
is probablly "La Flamme"
or "Caught In The Act"
or "Chinatown" even...
that's a great album
yes some of the scratch/hip hop effects
are outdated...
but Chaka's wail makes up for it
LOVE that album

That's the album with "I Want" on it which was probably the last thing she made that I liked by her. "I Want" was probably the hottest jam of any artist that year but everything else on the album was too slow.

One of my all time favorite solo Chaka songs, "My Love Is Alive", is from that album. Other favorites of her solo songs are "I Feel For You", "Earth To Mickey", "Tearin' It Up", "I Want", and "Watcha Gonna Do For Me". As you can see, I love the jams. However, none of them can compare to her Rufus jams such as "Dance With Me" or "Do You Love What You Feel".
