Danity Kane notches second number one album with almost Identical numbers

A very odd thing, especially for newer artists of the day, Danity Kane actually held the same amount of sales first week to their last CD just under 2 years ago. This new CD opened at 236,000 while the other opened at 234,000. Now once again the Girls had their show running, however this time, they're finale epsiode came after the release when the numbers were already in for the most part, last time they were on the same day. As far as the album, its excellent, a great pop record, heavier on dance and pop than RB, the only minus on this album is the few interludes, and a track with Rick Ross, possibly the worst thing out there right now in Rap. Another interesting note this week, everyone predicted HUGE numbers from FLO-RIDA since he has a single that has about 3.5 million in downloads, well his cd debut was not to good, though he sold 90,000 that is a major disappoint to the label that didnt see his single translate to album sales (wonder why? He sucks maybe) and though its week 1 only, lets face it, Rap albums are all about Week 1, its a downward spiral from here.

If only she'd lose that fucked up weave. I think they purposely put that rat fur on her so people wouldn't focus on her, too bad it's not working.

Well they wrote half the record so they at least get that much, which may not be alot, but its more than 90% of the artists. Also i saw a very interesting, and truthful qoute from Puffy, he said "i dont make any money off music at this point and havent for a long time" and honestly i have been saying this about ALOT of people like Jay,Diddy and 50cent especially, they are making it all on endorsements, same for Kanye too.

So i would say that Danity Kane are making the $$ where others are like them, magazines, commercials, Mtv stuff etc..

They'll download and possibly nag their parents to get them tickets to a Hanner Montaner show with DK opening, but they are NOT buying records or packing venues just for DK.

Pretty much, and even that isn't very much. You know Pissy is taking the biggest possible slice of whatever the show and side deals bring in.

MTB, since Pissy became a part of it, has to be one of MTV's highest rated shows and it costs nickels to produce.

I actually feel sorry for these kids because they get beat up on a major network, they deal with the pimp, and when it's all over(in two or three years)all they have to show for it is a few pieces of weave and a couple gold chains as well as label debt.

Exactly what I thought. P.Diddy is just using them for the Making of The Band Show..which I'm sure is earning him more money than the actual album ever will. I highly doubt those girls get a slice of that MTV earnings pie. confused

I think they do, they probably make little on the record (BUT NO ARTIST today does in their position) but if youre on TV you get something, even if you get scale, its union law that you have to get at least that, and that can range from 75 dollars (background work) to 5,000 dollars depending on the network, so even if they are getting 2,500 a day just for some dopey show that shoots for a few months plus the magazines, any cuts on written music, etc..its still not a bad piece of change. I mean when can say this about any artist, I mean Rihanna, had 5 hit singles, sold a million here in the US about 3 million worldwide, toured and had countless endorsements, and yet didnt make the top 20 music women earners, and number 20 made 5 million, Rihanna's overall total didnt even make the list of 50, so thats pretty shitty for all that she has brought in for the most part, she has nothing to show for it, but than again, she doesnt write, so she has dug her own grave, since the airplay makes her NOTHING.

I didn't know that about the TV union Law. So, it isn't too bad 4 them afterall. As for Rihanna....she's a perfect example of these current "Pop Factory" artists. These labels spend X amount of dollars with hopes of making a profit. So when they do make profit...they take all of there's with interest. Labels are like Banks! lol

Evvy, I was going to agree. As shocking as it is, they do have an audience. One day I was walking on the campus of a college where I use to teach and some girls were driving around blasting their first album the week it came out. I was REALLY surprised
