1980 Floor Show David Bowie What was this about exactly?
And why was it not included on the Best Of Bowie DVD? "Old man's gotta be the old man. Fish has got to be the fish."

And why was it not included on the Best Of Bowie DVD? it was a television special...kind of a variety show/taped concert kind of thing...that, in a sense, was meant to be the last shout of the ziggy stardust character. here's a very interesting article about it: http://www.5years.com/1980.htm and it wouldn't have fit on the 'best of bowie' DVD because it was a feature length program, not necessarily a music video or collection of videos. it needs its own release. much of the show can be found on youtube. i HIGHLY recommend the duet of "i got you babe" with marianne faithfull dressed as a nun:

Yes, indeedy. It did seem like the last gasp of Ziggy along with "Rebel Rebel", Pin Ups and the Diamond Dogs cover. You could tell he was trying to break out of it during this special. Of course, he still had the Spiders there. But he also was premiering the sorta creeped out cabaret that he would explore on his next album/tour. And Ava Cherry was there. Something funky was on the horizon.

I've always been more interested in the 1976-era tour; from what I read in "Strange Fascination", this always seemed like the tour to see. Wish this was on DVD. I'm the first mammal to wear pants.

I know, right? Other than the Vancouver rehearsals (which are killer) and the few bonus tracks on the Ryko Station To Station, it's kinda his lost tour, which is a shame cuz it also seems like it might have been his best one. It's certainly his finest look.

I like the idea of Ziggy Stardust's Last Shout! It's crazy he went back to this character even for a short special. I hope this does see the light of day on DVD.
