Why can't I find any new hip hop I like? My all time fave is Q Tip and A Tribe Called Quest. I like Common, but I feel he hit his peak with 'Like Water for Chocolate.' (Though 'I Want You' is my shit). Of course I love Biggie, NaS, Foxy, the Fugees, etc...but T-Pain, FloRida, Lil Mama just don't do it for me. Is it that I'm 26 and out of touch? I'll leave it alone babe...just be me

I feel the same. Sadly, Hip Hop is in a state of 911 right now. So if u wanna find some true Hip Hop ur gonna have to look underground my friend.

I've been listening to:
Lupe Fiasco Kanye The Cool Kids(it's more hip hop for hipsters) J*Davey(they don't really count for hip hop tho.....) K-Os Gym Class Heroes "We may deify or demonize them but not ignore them. And we call them genius, because they are the people who change the world."

lupe, kanye, timbaland are the only hip hop/rap artists of today I can put up with, and I'm almost 25.

Just stick to 80's/early 90's. There hasn't been much worth bothering with since then. Rap is dead.

Could be time to expand your horizon. You may be "Been There, Done That, Got The T-Shirt" with Hip-Hop. Wouldn't be unheard of. Tons of music in this world with the ability to move you, aside from Hip-Hop.

K-OS and The Roots are both great.
But honestly, if you are looking for new hip-hop I would go to a few local clubs wherever you are and start checking out the local guys and girls who aren't on the radio. The most creative, freshest sound is most likely not signed yet and performing trying to get their music out there.

pete rock ghostface common talib kweli mos def this is what i rock to!!!!! And there it T-I-S. I'd also add . . . MF Doom, a/k/a Viktor Vaughn, King Geedorah and Zev Love X of KMD Madlib a/k/a Lord Quasimoto, the Beat Konduckta Madvillain -- MF Doom and Madlib collabo . . . Madvillainy is arguably the best hip-hop album of the decade. De La Soul . . . arguably the best hip-hop group out there right now. If you haven't copped their last 2 albums, The Grind Date and Impossible Mission, please do so. Ghostface Other cats like Guilty Simpson, Black Milk, Pharoahe Monch and Peanut Butter Wolf are puttin' it down as well. Because Hip-Hop died in 1993.
The best stuff was between 1988-1992. "He's a musician's musician..."

The best stuff was between 1988-1992. Sure about that? Take a look at what dropped in 1993. Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers) -- Wu Tang Clan Buhloone Mindstate -- De La Soul Enta Da Stage -- Black Moon Reachin' -- Digable Planets Midnight Marauders -- A Tribe Called Quest Lethal Injection -- Ice Cube In God We Trust -- Brand Nubian Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik -- OutKast Return Of the Boom Bap -- KRS-ONE Then take a look at what dropped in 1994 . . . Illmatic -- Nas Ready To Die -- The Notorious B.I.G. Resurrection -- Common Sense Blowout Comb -- Digable Planets Hard to Earn -- Gang Starr The Main Ingredient -- Pete Rock & C.L. Smooth Dare Iz A Darkside -- Redman Everything Is Everything -- Brand Nubian The Sun Rises In The East -- Jeru The Damaja Do You Want More?!!!??! -- The Roots Street Level -- The Beatnuts Tical -- Method Man Non-Fiction -- Black Sheep That doesn't even count the West Coast joints that dropped from Tupac, Souls of Mischief, et al. So I can't go there witcha. 1993 and 1994 were 2 of the best years in hip-hop history. Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

OK, I need an edumacation here. What exactly is Hip Hop?
Is it Rap... cuz all these joints y'all are posting are rap albums. A real B-Boy once tried to explain the difference to me and I recall that it kind of made sense at the time but now I'm not recovering the distinction. Is all Rap Hip Hop but not all Hip Hop is Rap... or something like that? Can anybody break it down for me? [Edited 3/28/08 15:31pm]

Ghostface Killah
never ceases to amaze me I sold my new Wu-Tang album (8 Diagrams) back to Sam Goody the uuuh day for like 3 bucks (DVD included) only song I really played was "The Heart Gently Weeps" and I see that is available on 12" so I'll just cop that and be happy because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

The best stuff was between 1988-1992. Exactly! Y'all must have stopped listening after that. Hip-Hip was just kicking into its 2d Golden Age; which was brief but classic. The "bling/jiggy" era began a long slide. But before that came some of the greatest albums in hip-hop history. [Edited 3/29/08 9:39am] Good night, sweet Prince | 7 June 1958 - 21 April 2016

Another big vote for K-Os!
My favorite hip hop artist. Though his style blends genres and he is a great singer too. All four of his albums are worth checking out and he has a new one on the way. It will be titled "Souls on Ice". Later [Edited 3/29/08 9:51am] Cause tomorrow is taking too long

Raekwon arguably has the best album of all the Wu solo efforts, Only Built 4 Cuban Linx, but again, Ghostface kills on that joint. Method's and GZA's debut albums were tight too, but after that, with some exceptions, Ghostface has been carrying the Wu brand basically by himself, while the others are just repeating themselves.
