I wanna get into his music, the only song, i've heard from him is "the traitor", cause i saw rufus wainwright sister, do a cover of this song, i liked how she sang it, but i loved his version of it, much better. so what albums, do you recommend for a beginner who wants to get into Leonard Cohen.

I had never heard of them but I was online shopping and I saw a very cheap compilation so I gave it a try. Received it yesterday so just one listen but I quite like them. They reminded me a little of The Voice Of The Beehive which I used to love by the late 80s. So, thank you I guess

Suzanne is one of my all time top songs. Music is the language of the spirit. It opens the secret of life bringing peace, abolishing strife. --Kahlil Gibran

Start with compilations. The Best of Leonard Cohen for his classic late 60s to mid 70s run. Or The Essential Leonard Cohen for a more comprehensive overview of his career including some underrated 80s to 00s era songs.

Start with the Essential Leonard Cohen. It's a good introduction, but it completely bypasses the great Death of a Ladies' Man album. The latter was produced by Phil Spector at gunpoint. Cohen loves it and loathes it. My favourites are: I'm Your Man Death of a Ladies' Man The Future Ten New Songs Songs of Love & Hate New Skin for the Old Ceremony Cohen Live Songs of Leonard Cohen He's touring this year. His first tour in 15 years and most likely his last. There are three sides to every story. My side, your side, and the truth. And no one is lying. Memories shared serve each one differently

"The Gypsy's Wife"
is probably my favorite. I'm hoping to cover it with my band, because it has a great violin melody line. Did anyone mention "Hallelujah?" That's a great...

My favorite is "Bird On A Wire". It's featured on one of my favorite films, "Fox And His Friends" by Rainer Werner Fassbinder.
