Beck - Where It's At (Edit)

I always preferred the shorter version of this song that was used for the video.

I found it on a promo only CD single. I don't recall seeing this as an actual CD single.. I bought Odelay back then.

1 WHERE IT'S AT
(Edit) 3:42
2 WHERE IT'S AT
(LP Version) 5:25

My friend has the 12" single for "Where It's At" and it had a Dust Brothers remix and some sort of bonus beats version of their remix on it.

i'm pretty sure the 12" is on that deluxe edition 'odelay' reissue nonsense that came out earlier this year. why do you like the shorter version better?

I didn't end up buying that deluxe version! The Dust Brothers remix switches between the drums from "Blind Alley" by The Emotions and "Get Out Of My Life Woman" by Lee Dorsey (hip hop staples).

Because they actually "edited" the parts that needed a haircut.. like random sound effect intro, and the extended lulls (ie. no drums) that seem to take the energy out of this, otherwise, jam.

And I like the weird changeups shorter too, like the part that comes after the Mantronix sample is a beat from 1982's Wild Style, and on the album version it lasts a little too long. It's like a smart wink that lasts too long. wink wink wink wink wink wink wink wink
