Nona, Tamar and Susan are about as dark as its been for Prince (that the public knows of, at least) and even Susan looks like an island girl (Trini) with thick, naturally curly hair.

Here's the thing.

Prince is a biracial man. No, not like Lenny Kravitz, but he's a biracial man. He's basically mainly bearded with biracial women. If he was a white dude that mostly or only dated white women, no one would have anything to say, but because of our culture and some old ideas that we won't let die some people twist their face up at him. I never understood why people say Prince dates women that look like him. He doesn't look like any of them. I suspect people say that because he's light and wears his hair straight. But as we all know, P was not born with straight hair. If he wore his hair in a 'fro, would people still think he looked like Vanity, Mani or Mayte...I think not.

As far as the type of women he dates or put in his circle, I think some of it because of social conditioning... and some of it is due to P catering to his audience. He knows that many of his fans prefer for him to be associated with someone that looks like Vanity or Mayte, as oppose to someone that looks like Tamar.

Folks lost their damn minds when Prince brought Tamar on board. They weren't used to P showering that much attention to someone that is unmistakenly Black. If she was a racially ambiguous or if she had taken a role in P's crew like Boni or Rosie(singing behind a keyboard), it would not have been a problem. But he had her front and center...singing, dancing and shaking it up right next to him.

Now, they obviously aren't the darkest shade of brown, but they are brown, obviously black women. Lighting is something else...there are times where in pictures I look "yella", but I know that's just flash or natural lighting...

The artists or their reps DO pick the girls in the videos in many instances - or they tell the directors what they want. Again, I know this from industry experience.

Finally, what black women has MJ constantly put in videos? Naomi Campbell, Iman, Tatiana - yeah, they are all average looking black women. The TWO dark sisters are SUPERMODELS! And Ola Ray from Thriller was a Playboy bunny. All of Michael's so-called wives and "girlfriends" have been white in real life, so what is your point?
