i got in rainbows for 6 bucks in a bin today.

figured I wouldn't buy it from radiohead.. since they copped out on their of original idea of "Fuck the record labels"

sure thing mr. thom.

hypocrite

Not really. Thom said from the start that they'd release it officially at some point later on.

It was more about testing the waters of alternative release methods than rebelling against the concept of record labels.

If anything, Thom just seems to be against the major labels.

I think the "Give it away for free" was a silly method... there were better ways to approach that.

I agree it was a bit silly, but they were making a statement about the true value of music in an age of piracy.

The song builds to a thrilling climax, too. I love when his voice splits.

"Let Down" is one of my absolute favorites. nod "(Nice Dream)" is another I never tire of hearing. music

My favs are also the bends and OK Computer with High and Dry and Karma Police being the top tracks. Never really got into their electronic phase and I've yet to locate a copy of In rainbows. But I'm in no hurry cause these guys make timeless music.
Just a bit off topic Toots (of the Maytals) does an awesome cover of Let Down on this:

I had Ok Computer and I loved it so much that I didn't really pay attention until IstenSzek turned me into a completist by letting me listen to ONE song.

That song did it for me; like The Knife's We Share Our Mothers' Health, the song Isten played to me is still the keystone of the 'something' that captivates me in their work.

The song is called The Amazing Sounds Of Orgy and it does to me what all great songs in my favourite list do; stretch space and time and create an entire new universe to excist in. Just me, floating around in a vacuum, while the galazy resonates with sounds that take me further away from the hoopla that is every day music, every day life.

That said, I need to play it right now...

btw, The Amazing Sounds Of Orgy is the b-side to Pyramid Song

I want to see you smile again
Like diamonds in the dust
The amazing sound of the killing hordes
The day the banks collapse on us

Cease this endless chattering
Like everything is fine
When sorry is not good enough
Sit in the back while no-one drives

So glad you're mine

Oh, and In Rainbows has still not left my iPod since it's release. That's saying something.

That song is awesome. Personal fave Amnesiac b-side is Cuttooth.
