Did any1 cath the Britney Spears South Park Episode? That was so so sad and funny. Britney kills herself over the media, and survives with half of her head blown off, and the media still is after her.

It was hilarious. Did any1 catch it? It was unbelievably dark, more depressing than funny. Mostly because it was so on the nose. [Edited 3/24/08 13:24pm]

Extremely grotesque. I felt ashamed after watching it. I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

Sadly, the effects of the recession (mortgage crisis, healthcare crisis, oil and gas prices skyrocketing, food prices skyrocketing, loss of jobs) have trickled down into Hollywood. According to Access Hollywood, since Britney's dad has taken over her affairs, she has had less opportunity to go nuts in public, and as a result, the paparazzi has had fewer opportunities to take photos of her. Some magazines and other PR groups have had to lay off members of the paparazzi while others have had to change their focus from Britney to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie and others.
Well, now that Britney is no longer front page news, I guess the media will focus on the important issues facing our country like the economy, jobs, the War in Iraq, healthcare, education.....what? Some angry black preacher that Obama knows is saying "God Damn America" on YouTube? Nevermind.

Well i gotta admit she did a really good job on that "how i met" show, she was actually playing a character and doing pretty good. Unlike other singers who royally suck at any form of acting even when they play themselves, but try to make that a "character" "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

But didn't they brought them in at the very beginning? The VMA part was pretty fun though: http://www.youtube.com/wa...bqbAD8SSbQ [Edited 3/24/08 20:23pm] I'm not mad at you, I'm mad at the dirt.

it was funny, and kind of sad too. I didn't think they were that hard on her

I liked the episode because the joke was actually on the media frenzy and made a good point about everyone's lack of compassion for her as a human being - seriously!

It was very disturbing, but only because it's true.
The part with her kids was really upsetting. I'm glad someone's defending her and calling out the media for their hypocrisy and cruelty.

Except the public has to you know be interested in her. I would've chosen Lohan or Jolie for that bit, they garner way more interest than Cyrus. Or maybe even Zac Efron!

[Edited 3/24/08 13:24pm] exactly. i read on another board some comments discussing the "missing half her head" aspect of the storyline, and was amazed at how many people didn't understand the comparison SP was making: here is a woman (Britney) with an obvious affliction (mental/emotional issues) that manifests with obvious outward symptoms -- yet society, being either too lacking in compassion and perception, or too shallow and crass and concerned only with satiating its bloodlust for ridiculous 'celebrity gossip', ignores the gravity and reality of the situation and focuses instead on the inane and stupidly sensationalistic, like what she purchased at a store or the size of a blemish on her chin. this episode was not funny and clearly wasn't intended to be. but it was brilliantly done and made valid points.

Or maybe even Zac Efron! lohan and jolie are too old, and that efron person isn't of the right... ilk...to make a valid comparison to Britney. miley cyrus/hannah montana is another kittenish, adolescent pop star of debatable talent and is the current flavour of the moment, especially amongst the younger crowd. there are many parallels to be made to britney spears' arc of fame. she was a very apt celebrity to choose to illustrate SP's point.

It's quite a statement & definitely the first time in a while I have been open-mouth shocked at something on that show. But I got what they were on about right away. I still remember walking out of 9th grade English class after reading The Lottery & being totally chilled.
Not the funniest episode but very watchable. However, after two heavy weeks in a row I'm hoping for some good light-hearted, non-topical fart jokes tomorrow night.
