Yep, that was the spring of 1982. I"ve got the long version on one of my compilations but I prefer my 45 version more.

And don't forget Cheri's release the next year, "Working Girl", which is a song about a whore. You know, if it's about a whore, it's right up my alley. I like to play it right before Donna Summer's "She Works Hard For The Money" and Divine Sounds "What People Do For Money" which were all three out around that same time. Ooops, I forgot about Rick James "PIMP the SIMP". I need to just go home and make me a complete whoring mix CD. lol

I love this track. I remember I first heard it during the ninties when one of the pop stations was playing old school stuff. The Strobe on Sirius still plays it pretty often. I know there is a Cheri CD (not sure if it's a bunch of singles or what) and I might pick it up I love this song so much (it's already on a compilation I have).

Yeah, this was a cool fun track....I always thought of the munchkins, whenever I heard the chorus.

I have the 12" of "Working Girl" lol I remember hearing it on the radio in the spring of 1983 and for a split second,I thought it was the new Vanity 6 single. It sounds like something they would have done and Cheri's voice is similar to Vanity's.It's a shame that "Working Girl" didn't become a big hit.It has a good message, but I guess songs about prostitution were a hard sell in the 80s,lol.
