The Stray Cats are from the USA! At least Brian Setzer is. I do believe they spent time in the UK, however.

Brian Setzer doesn't get the credit he deserves for his guitar playing. His jazz chording is out of this world.

Miles

Good track and good band. A fun revival of '50s rock n' roll reminding the punks of the late '70s early -'80s that it had all been done before (and mostly better) 20 years earlier.

I'd say Eddie Cochran was an important influence on them, tho Setzer later took off in a more 'rock n' swing' direction. I love the slapping, chugging acoustic bass sound of the rock n' roll era, and the Cats had that big time.

The Meteors, a contemporary 'neo rockabilly' band rival of the Stray Cats, were also decent. smile

eek I know you're kind of young, but you've really never heard "Rock This Town"? That's surprising. Here it is:

That song came out right before my 17th birthday. My best friend Jarrett gave me that 12" and Rick James' "17" 12" for my birthday!
I thought that was so cool.... cool
