Can anyone suggest a good converter to convert FLAC files to MP3?

I use DB Poweramp normally, but it won't do the trick.

FLAC Frontend is the one I've used and have had great results with.

I use the "ease audio converter"

I think you need plugins. I installed it like 3 years ago and haven't had to touch it since. I wonder if there are updates out there.....

Anyway, I use it because I turn a lot of my files from CD -> WAV -> APE. When I want them to be MP3, I use this to convert them from APE -> MP3

I think you need to use FLAC Frontend to convert the FLACs to WAVs and then another program to convert the WAVs to MP3s (I use Wavelab). I don't know of any that do it directly.

The converter i mentioned in my earlier post will convert them directly from Flac to Mp3..

I tried two, one was a pay thingie and the other I downloaded and could not get to work. So I chucked it and gave up.

why would you prefer compromised , quality reduced audio over lossless audio ?


the whole idea to FLAC is the fact that it's a lossless audio converter
why make the audio files lossy again ?

Yeah, it's a space issue. I convert to AAC (.mp4) so I don't suck so much space in iTunes and on my iPod.

But I keep both the FLACs and the .wav files I've converted them to on a separate hard drive - so I can burn them (lossless) at will.

Yes i gathered it was a space issue
Get a 500 GB hard disk and you should be ok for a while

I hope u are compressing those FLAC files into MP3 for your own personal use… rather than upload them back up onto the net and destroy the high quality FLACs with lousy MP3s. Re-uploading MP3s from those FLACs is disrespecting the original uploader and seeders that have passed them onto u in the first place.
