Report: Jennifer Lopez gives birth to twins, a boy and a girl

NEW YORK - Jennifer Lopez gave birth to twins - a boy and a girl - early Friday, after one of pop music's most closely watched pregnancies.

Lopez representative Simon Fields told People magazine the babies were born at 12:45 a.m. on Long Island. The location was not identified. Lopez, 39, and husband Marc Anthony, 38, married in 2004. The twins are her first children, and his third and fourth.

Lopez' publicists and agent did not return calls early Friday.

"Jennifer and Marc are delighted, thrilled and over the moon," Fields told the magazine.

Ending months of speculation, Lopez confirmed her pregnancy at a Miami concert in November. Her father, David Lopez, told Telefutura's "Escandalo TV" earlier this month that she was expecting twins.

She is lucky she has one of each, now she never has to try and get pregnant again.

Another thing don't you think some peeps are born with so much luck. I mean J.LO having boy and girl twins is just part of the luck that runs in her family. J:LO like Madonna ain't the most talented person in the world but she has made a fortune out of her career and on top of that her mother won 1 Million dollars on the Jackpot in Las Vegas, now that's what I call a lucky family.

For weeks, there was speculation the singer-actress had been admitted to a lavish new birthing suite at North Shore University Hospital in Manhasset, with a hospital source telling Newsday that she was "in the house." On Friday, hospital spokeswoman Adina Conn would not comment, citing privacy laws.

Staffers at the hospital have been calling the suite the "J.Lo" room for months, but the suite has had one occupant before Lopez: Katuria D'Amato, wife of former three-time Sen. Alfonse D'Amato. She delivered Alfonso Marcello D'Amato Feb. 5.

The room could hold 30 people. It has two flat-screen TVs, two couches and a few chairs, including a rocker and recliner. It has a kitchenette with cabinets and a small refrigerator, cherry-colored wood floors, an Internet connection and a private bathroom. A sliding door connects the room to another that can increase the size of the room.

The VIMs -- very important mommies -- in this room can order food off a special menu from the cafeteria, delivered by uniformed servers.

Terry Lynam, a hospital spokesman who also said he could not acknowledge the couple's presence, said the hospital plans to start construction on 75 more such rooms in the fall at a cost of $40 million.

And I had read previously that the babies' names are Max and Emme.
