I agree,it's a great song.You really have to go back to the 60s and 70s to find amazing songwriting.Nobody writes amazing songs these days.

I'll never understand how it's possible to draw up one of these lists, but I take my hat off to anyone who can be that definite. cool

Did anyone see the film they made out of this song in 1976? That was where I first heard the song. The film was actually called Ode To Billie Joe and it gave a reason for Billie Joe jumping off the bridge. They said he was tortured by the discovery that he was homosexual.
