I agree,it's a great song.You really have to go back to the 60s and 70s to find amazing songwriting.Nobody writes amazing songs these days. | |

Did anyone see the film they made out of this song in 1976? That was where I first heard the song. The film was actually called Ode To Billie Joe and it gave a reason for Billie Joe jumping off the bridge. They said he was tortured by the discovery that he was homosexual. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”
