I think it's a total waste. Sly has a history of No Shows and drugged-out stage fights leadingto unfinished concerts, so I don't see myself paying good money to see him live.

Aud,..u goin? This will be the second show that was around our birthdays. The other one was Lewis Taylor. That also was on the 26th if I'm not mistaken. But we know what happened to that one.....I might very well go to the Sunset show. But I don't want to get burned. Meaning if Sly doesn't get up on stage and do something more than fiddle around on the organ for a half of song, then....

Not exactly on topic but some damn good reading for us music fiends who can't absorb enough arcane knowledge- David Kapralik discovered and signed Sly & the Family Stone:

http://www.observer.com/node/42038

I met Kapralik aka Ili Ili in the mid 80's when I was living on Maui and we became good friends. Man,the stories he told about Sly's psycho antics!

We used to pack exotic flowers for shipment to the mainland together while I would play him Prince albums and we'd discuss the obvious Sly Stone influences in various songs, eg. the guitar riff on Alphabet St.

I've lost touch but I hear he's still alive; should be about 82 now. Delightful man.
