Poll: Do you still buy CDs?

I may be one of the few on here that does not have an iPod, has no intention of getting one, and still goes out and buy CDs; not nearly as many as I used to though; now I buy far more DVDs on a regular basis compared to CDs.

Y'all? Do you still go out and buy "real" CDs?

yeah I do, if I like them in full after listening to them online, but mostly if I buy any, they will only be from Michael, Janet, Madonna and Mariah.

I do to a degree...I still have all of my vinyl, except for those that were not returned. I started to replace vinyl with CD's and it became a hard task because somethings weren't in CD format those that were, were imports (ching-ching), so I stopped for awhile and started getting new releases and artist but not many....and I do not own an i-pea either.

i do still buy CDs, because i like the permanence of them (relatively speaking) and i like the artwork, liner notes, and all that jazz.

i do have an iPod, and my hope is to load all my music onto it so i don't use my CDs as much. but if i ever lose or get rid of my iPod, or if something happens with my iTunes library (or whatEVER, you see where i'm going with this), then i am screwed. i like having CDs as my back-up.

i AM trying to do some download purchases, too. if i feel "iffy" about an album i'm curious about, i might get the download first...then if i fall madly in love with the album, i'll eventually get the CD.

Being that I am from the generation of Vinyl, I am used to sleeves which was replaced by liner notes when CD came around. So, I'll have to say yes.

Yes, but I'm starting to buy a lot of vinyl. CDs are good for colelctions and new stuff...with older studio albums, I've been buying LPs.

I still buy CDs, but I am more discriminating. I'm more likely to buy one song from iTunes than I used to be. I agree with Anxiety, tho, that I like the permanence and so on.
Although I don't miss the bulk, I do miss the beauty that vinyl album covers used to have.
I have a few iPods, and I have been trying to load everything so I don't have to carry the discs around with me.

i have a 160gb iPod, so i'm hoping just one will do the trick (and yeah, i have a LOT of music, so wish me luck).

i read a new yorker article last year about how karl lagerfeld has iPods strewn around all over the place in his home, each with maybe a few songs or a couple of albums stored on them. the mental image of that cracks me up. lol

I had five, but I've only programmed three. One is a Mini, one is an 80-gig and the other is an 8-gig Nano. The Mini was stolen and the Nano only has Prince. lol
The tech lady at Apple told me U're only allowed to register & synch 5. shrug

I do that- I don't have an ipod. I buy CD's rip them to my computer and play them in CD players around the house too. I like music booming, rather than just in my head. And I like having the physical product.

Yes, I still buy CD's. Like other orgers have said, I have a Zune 80 GB MP3 Player and I rip them on there, so I don't have to carry my discs around and get em messed up. I like having my discs scratch free, even though a half of my CD's have scratches! I like CD's because it's good to look at the packaging (booklet, liners, etc.) and it's smart to have a physical copy, just in case your computer files get corrupted.

I listen to my CD's more than my MP3 player, so that's a plus right? biggrin

I still do and then I load them onto my iPod. You can never be too sure just having it all digitally. You could have a system crash and lose it all in a second. The CDs are there for back-up, and I just like having the actual albums.

I've downloaded a lot of albums but I never consider myself to own it unless I have the CD.

What does having a iPod have to do with not buying CDs. The vast majority of iPod owners use CDs.

I feel the same way.
I do download some songs from artists I don't buy albums
from anyway but I still buy cd's.
I admit,a lot when they are low price (bought Janet 20YO-special edition
2 months ago for only 6Euro!and Off The Wall SE for 5 Euro).

If I'm truly interested in something I'll buy it on cd, which is where the majority of my collection stems from. I buy here & there songs from ITunes, but I gotta have the physical cd for the car & just because I like to...

On the Ipod question, I have an MP3 player (Siruis Stiletto) that holds I think about 250 tracks of my own (I can also tape songs from the radio and have them as MP3s but probably only for this player as well as large blocks of programming. It's pretty great. I don't need a bigger MP3 player becuase I change my mind so often that when I get bored with stuff, I'll delete it. It's never actually been full, though. I think you can still buy CDs and have love for the Mp3 player.

Here in Portugal a cd is almost as expensive as in Japan!

A new release here is 19 Euro, that's 29.58 us dollars

I have lost my computer files a number of times, even this decade, so I certainly could never rely completely on my computer for my MUSIC! Are you kidding? That's like the air I breathe.

I buy CDs and more vinyl than ever!
