Carl Thomas is so insipid.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/...324&sr=1-4

I bought Carl Thomas album along with Musiq's Luvanmusiq because of all the positive reviews on Amazon.com. What is interesting about this album? I am not feeling it at all.

I have asked myself the same question. I don't understand the appeal of Carl Thomas. The guy can't sing and has no range. I have listened to all 3 of his albums and the first one is better than the rest (and that's not saying much).

I was crazy about his
first album because I thought
he would be the male version
of what Puff was doing
with the Marys and the Faiths

but was quickly disappointed
with the second release...

kinda boring...
gotta be in the mood
for that sort of thing
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

I've never liked this guy's music. He just doesn't have any range nor soulfulness in his voice. The only songs I really dug by him were 'Summer Rain' and 'Emotional'.

In your opinion which male Neo-Soul artist surpasses Musiq in soulfulness and range? I will admit that I find Musiq's latest to be not even a half-hearted attempt to achieve what he did in his debut.

His biggest problem is that Puff and his team are not very good at actually creating music with meat on it's bones. That cookie cutter shit quickly plays out.

I remember when he came
to Southern University
for our Homecoming Week
that was the year 2000

and "Summer Rain" was
all the rave...
his show was boring as hell
but when the beat dropped
for SR... the whole place got up
it was the greatest feeling
magical even

too bad most people left
after he did that song
ROTFL
"be who you are and say what you feel
because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

yeah that was a really
wack concert
Jagged Edge was boring also
until the beat dropped
for "Let's Get Married (Remix)"

and Ludacris was there
but didn't perform
he got on stage raspy-voiced
and gave a PSA about
SAY NO TO DRUGS (rotfl)

Scarface's album had just dropped also
(met him at the Mom&Pop store across the hump)
and he was said to be roaming about
on the campus... with his camp
C-Murder also...

I missed most of the action
before the concert...
probably in my room getting h***

because those who mind don't matter
and those who matter don't mind."

I was all about this CD at the time...

still love "I Wish"

I knew about his credits for vocal work on Bad Boy productions and then BET blew up that single.

Can't say I have gone back to it though. It is very spring/summer 2000 related.

Is he one of those artists whose style is dated?

2000 is far away enough now for me to say, yeah. It sounds like it came out when it did.

How did you guys hear about Carl Thomas?

I errr... I just remember
hearing "I Wish" and loving it
I was just about to start college
and was in Wal-Mart shopping
for my dorm room and saw his album
didn't know it was out... totally took a chance
but LOVED the album...
yup... we had a rented Montero Sport
at the time and I remember riding around
and KNOCKING this album love

I take it back
I think I remember hearing
the remix for "Been Around The World"
BAD BOY had a remix everytime
you turned around
and they all were HOT!!!

"I Wish" is timeless IMO... one of the best R&B songs since 2000.

Carl Thomas is one boring motherfucker. I've never liked any of his songs and he sounds no different from any other R&B singer. He is wacker than wack.
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

Summer Rain is just ok but I get tired of people making whole songs based off of other people's stuff.
every time I heard it I kept singing to myself:
summer soft, wakes me with a kiss to start the morning off....
