Jimmy Scott - The Voice Don't have time to do the write up he deserves.

Thanks for the reminder.
I was in a darkened art house waiting along with perhaps 50 other people for a film to begin when all of sudden over the sound system I hear "Nothing Compares 2 U" delivered with a voice and version that left me totally dumbfounded in stimulation. At first I didn't know if it was a joke or something of great weight. I also thought it must be woman, but after getting home and doing some research I found out that it was Little Jimmy Scott, a male who had suffered through Kallmann's Syndrome, causing him and his voice to never achieve the troubling shine of puberty. So he sounds a bit like a cross between a boy and an extremely accomplished female jazz singer of some advanced years. There's nothing at all that can compare to this. All I have from Jimmy Scott is the following release, which is a great start, but I'm always willing to listen to additional impassioned testimonials of what else is moving you about this terrifically unique artist. I'll definitely be on the look out for this documentary. Thanks again.

If You Only Knew - His first. Falling in Love is Wonderful - Released on the Tangerine label owned by Ray Charles (who actually plays on the record). The album was taken off of the shelves due to a former manager claiming he still had a contract on Scott. All The Way - Recorded in 1992, almost 40 years after his initial album.
