I wish "Phoenix" and "Pressure Cookin'" could be released on cd.... I`m curious about the song "Open your heart", which was written by Stevie Wonder.

Most definately. LaBelle is 50 times better than Patti LaBelle solo.

It's all good when it comes to Miss Patti. I have love for Stacy & Nona as well. These women are bone fide divas in the game and all imitators need to recognize.

eek I think many will disagree w/ that statement. PATTI is a force of nature that cant be messed with. A VOCAL hurricane.

I loved the LABELLE years.. incredible songs w/ social messages but PATTI's solo years are what gave her legions of fans..and celebrity.

In fact, she deserves much more credit then she ever got. Who can sing like her.. hit notes in that range. Yet still be so humble and gracious.

If only she knew..how much we do love her..

Agree... Patti's voice during the 1990s will go unparalleled -- too bad most were wrapped up in grunge and acid house to appreciate what she was serving up... Her Live in New York DVD from this time also featured a mini LaBelle reunion!

I've never been one to follow the crowd's tastes anyway. The songs from the LaBelle years were harder and had more rhythm than Patti's solo stuff. I like Patti's early solo years but by the mid 1980s she had a pop sound (a turnoff) and in the 1990s, she had a conservative adult contemporary sound (an even bigger turnoff).

Totally agree about the sound and weak song choices of the 80s and 90s but I think Patti's voice was strongest during those years... And to be honest, I've never heard a complete LaBelle album all the way through -- which one should I start with?
