Just because he doesn't sing live often it doesn't mean he's lost his voice. What bull.

Whilst I care little for the material, his vocal delivery on much of Invincible is the best his voice has sounded in years.

His performance on tracks like Speechless, We've Had Enough, Break of Dawn, Heaven Can Wait... it's world class.

If you listen to him singing "I'll Be There" on the '97 leg of that tour you can hear his voice was almost totally gone. It was unbelievable. You won't find that footage on Youtube though as his fans are keeping it hidden.

I have that performance on tape, he's so out of breath though it could have been worse.

yeah I agree he sounded really good on Invincible and showed off his range, but that is not the same as live singing. I mean, he took 3 weeks to record Butterflies with a great result, but he can't really sing live on the spot as good as he used to be able to, doesn't mean he can't sing, he just needs practice maybe.

Good point. Back in the '80s, Michael was a very different cat than today. Least when he came up there, he would sing or dance like he did with James and Diana but now, like you said, he'll probably come on the stage with Diana and hug her and blow kisses. lol

Did you forget?

Come on. Michael Jordan has also not been playing and I don´t think anyone would say that he´snot able to hit the basket anymore. Let´s wait for Mike to come back and show us what he´s still capable of.

Back to his singing, I just wanted to say... did anyone notice the high notes he sings in Blood On the Dancefloor during the bridge? The background vocals, where he goes:
"oooooh, blood on the dancefloor,
oooooh, blood on the dancefloor..."
That´s unbelievable.

yeah he always sang in all his ranges during the harmonies, janet does too.

I doubt we're thinking of the same one. This was more than out of breath. I also had a tape from another concert where his voice was completely gone on WBSS. None of this footage is on Youtube.

The point you're making here is so simple, but most MJ fans do not understand it.

Most fans post clips showing their idols at their best, because that's what they enjoy. That's sort of the whole point. I can accept that MJ has lost many of his stage abilities, but I'm not going to go around actively seeking out proof of this over and over again, you know? I'd rather watch good clips. It's not a big conspiracy, I swear.

If you have it and you want to make a point, why don't you post it? We won't hunt you down, I promise...

Those 1997 clips are far better than the ones which are not on Youtube. As the tour went on he lost his voice completely, but like I said before, that footage is being kept under wraps. wink

BTW, have we allready mentioned the fact that his voice got lover, and he probably should sing his old songs in a lower key!
Even if he was in great shape, I'm sure he could never sing BEat It like, let's say in 1984 or 1988.

So what exactly do you want to say? That he had some off nights? That frequent singing every other night is not good for his voice? Maybne that's the reason for the lip synching!?

I wouldn't know how. I'm not as tech-savvy as you guys. I've got the footage on a VHS tape. I don't have a recordable DVD either and I have no intention of asking any friends to handle Michael Jackson footage for me. No offense, but he's a childish act and it would be embarrassing. People I hang out with are into Bob Dylan, Prince, Stevie, etc. Grown-up artists. I've managed to convert a few to Cyndi Lauper though. Just showed them a few clips and they saw what I meant right away. MJ's another thing though.

He wasn't frequently singing. He was miming 90% of the show from the very start. I don't regard 10 minutes of live singing two or three times a week as all that much singing, but for Michael it is, because his vocal cords are damaged.

Just out of curiosity, why do you feel the need to belittle MJ fans with every post? I can understand that you feel he is overrated, and I respect your right to express your opinion freely, but honestly, why can't you do it without the vitriol towards his fans?

Most people who dislike an artist would say something like: "I feel X is overrated. He was never that great to begin with, and he has been in clear decline over the last twenty years". They rarely feel the need to add, by express or by implication "and anyone who enjoys X's music and artistry despite this, anyone who appreciates his talent for what it is, rather than despise it for what it is not, is a patheric, deluded, childish loser".

Seriously, why do you hate us so much? Why can't you just state your opinions and make your arguments without deliberately trying to make other people feel bad about their tastes, their pleasures? I'm trying to see, but I really don't understand you here. Maybe I'm just too deluded to get it. sad

That's a good point, but I don't think Michael wants to admit that he's getting older. Maybe that's why he won't lower the keys. shrug

Most of the time they actually don't understand what's been said, so I have to repeat it many times and they still don't understand the point.

What annoys me is when people question MJ talents, say what you want about his personal life, I know I've question some of his actions over the years, but to degrade his talents, saying he can't dance anymore, or his voice is now weak and he doesn't have "it" anymore is irritating. Talent never goes away, it can weaken if not taken care of, but it can be worked on and refined. With all the horse shit artist out here today, I pray for a new MJ album
