TRANCE...who likes it? I'm currently loving some trance remixes done for some of my favorite japanese singers like Ayumi Hamasaki!

Trance is shit. It's probably the worst 'music' genre in existence.
I loath it with passion. Ok, that's all I wanted to say, It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

I like it (though I don't get to hear any new stuff these days)!

This is a hard discussion because of what gets often described as trance music is this watered down paul oakenfeld C-R-A-P. I used to listen to Trance all the time, when it was popular for a few years here in San Francisco. I doubt the music really took off anywhere else...maybe New York. We still have shops dedicated to it. I miss the old days where it was all over the place.
We actually got to hear all kinds of sub-genres like Psy-trance, Cyber Trance, Goa, Happy Hardcore, and what was called Hard Trance but it was more Techno Trance (OD404 made a lot of this music) than anything...some really fun music. There is TONS of good trance out there TONS. I am not sure if it's still being made or what but if you really want to hear GOOD TRANCE, you'll do yourself a favor and stop listening to all those Trance Comps and Ministry of Sound CRAP and look into some trance acts. Most are on the Psychedelic Side. Cosmosis Koxbox Astral Projection Infected Mushroom (We LOVE the Mushies!) Sun Project Space Tribe (the earlier stuff) Anything from Tip WOrld Hallucinogen Also try looking into Shpongle....fucking incredible. Basically it's more on the slower side but deep rooted in the trance. Actually many trance acts are now delving into psy-chill and electronic Dub. Bands like OTT and Entheogenic and Shulman...Amazing. I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend www.psyshop.com. The place to get and explore Trance Music. Christian Zombie Vampires

Or would you say everyone that likes hip hop is a gangster and carries a gun? It's pretty small minded to to associate music to any group of people. It's telling when most of the people responding to this thread have absolutely nothing to add to the discussion and most likely don't know a thing about the genre. Christian Zombie Vampires

Psychic TV? Trance? Are you serious?
The members of Throbbing Gristle went to do some techno music in the 80s, but that's really pushing it. And those clips are not really very indicative of futurepop either. This would be more like it: http://youtube.com/watch?v=_7RlKe5LLPo

I love electronic music. BUT trance isn't one of my favorite genres at all. It's beautiful like classical. But not funky to my ears. My favorite electronic genres: House (Chicago, UK, & French) Techno (old-school Detroit, the Atkins/May/Sanderson era) Breakbeats (Florida & UK) Electro Downtempo Synthpop [Edited 3/16/08 5:18am]

Stop stereotyping. Not everyone take drugs at a rave.
