After listening to the link, I can see why you'd say that listening to this particular version. I didn't listen to it until now. The one i'm familiar with (radio edit maybe?) doesn't have that synth riding over the top of Marcus's bassline. Comes off as more of a straight R&B arrangement. tA Tribal Disorder http://www.soundclick.com...dID=182431 "Ya see, we're not interested in what you know...but what you are willing to learn. I'm inclined to agree with you on this one. Since this song was released in '82 then, it is technically during the wind down of the disco era. [Edited 3/15/08 9:54am] Exactly. The song was released in 1982 but the pop/rock world had declared disco officially "dead" after 1979 but disco's influence lingered on in R&B until around 1984 or 1985 (which is a good thing). Unfortunately, disco's influence in mainstream R&B faded more and more in the late 1980s but at least it was reincarnated during this period in underground house music. do tell...do tell. I'm talking about the infamous Lutha Vs Reefa feud Aretha is a classic one-take-artist, whereas Luther(like Curtis Mayfield before him) wanted the recording to be close to perfection and he made the mistake of telling Aretha HOW to sing his songs thats when the shit hit the fan.

That was one of the best parts of Aretha's autobiography. Good thing they later recorded together again in the 90s, but the "Jump To It" sessions were horrible (not musically, but how they got along). **--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••--**--••**--••-

Aretha had similiar problems with Curtis Mayfield, when he produced her 'Sparkle' album in 1976 She doesn't want nobody telling her how to sing. Her attitude is "YOU supply the music,I will deal with the vocals...by myself!"
