To Arthur Lee (Love) experts

What are your thoughts on the Reel to Real album?
I just got a copy from my girl. She paid $4 for it at a local record. Apparently it's the hardest to find Love album! I guess they didn't know that. lol
It's musically soulfull, full of horns and wah wah guitars. I mean Arthur Lee is no Sam Cooke but I've always enjoyed his voice and songwriting chops.
Im really enjoying this one.

I haven't heard his solo stuff, sorry.

But funny you should bring up this. My friend was playing me the record with "Doggone" on it.

I have the popular one on CD, Forever Changes.

Don't know how long you've been on this site, but I ran a thread, and a rather long thread on here about Arthur Lee. I mention Lee quite often on here. So yeah, I have and have shown MUCH love for Arthur on here.

If folks were looking for a Forever Changes vibe, this ain't it.
Although labeled LOVE, it's an Arthur Lee solo record with an R&B edge.
Interesting cover of Be Thankful for What You Got.
Good musicians too (Buzzy Feiten, Bobby Lyle, Harvey Mandel)

Sounds a bit like what would happen if you stripped the Pop off of Lenny Kravitz and added some personality.

Yeah band is really good, possibly the best he's had. I also get the feel that he really put some effort into this one as opposed to most of his forever changes output which were really half-assed.
The forever changes concert is also really enjoyable. Wish I had the chance to see him live.

I was blessed to see Arthur live TWICE. Both with the band Baby Lemonade as his backing band. Baby Lemonade was a local L.A. band with two black dudes in the group that sounded just like The Beach Boys.
