WTF? everyone should know rock with u is not radio friendly in the US
i still think rollercoaster would have made the killer single of the bunch... i love how she waited to do all the promo for the record until like a week before it came out too I think it's an odd strategy to release multiple singles from an artist at the same time. It's like they were throwing these songs at the wall, seeing what will stick.Perhaps they're confused about which song will sell? They should have just focused on making "Feedback" a massive hit, then followed it up with a strong second single (I'm not so sure that "Rock With U" was the right choice).

I heard that her tour begins in September, and she will start in America. She should try to squeeze in a European promo tour before then.A song like "Rock Wit U" would probably do better outside America, anyway.

to be honest, i dont think record companies know how to promote artists anymore..
its fucking ridiculous when even casual music listeners can sell the goddam things better than the people employed to do it. Feedback was gaining popularity.. even in the UK, where Janet isnt that popular non-fans were slowly warming to it, you cant just hit people with a track and dump it seven days later when it doesnt jump in at no 1. Rock Wit U wont go anywhere in the U.S. and its gonna require even more time to sink in. Luv is alright i guess. but to be honest, they should have stuck with Feedback in America.. actually promote it and promote 2nite in Europe. The album has been totally misguided yet again.. what the fuck is wrong with the people promoting Janet, it always seems so half hearted, no inspired promotion and the videos from Janet these days are appauling. Yet Mariah ... who's Touch my Body song i think is the worst of her entire career seems to just glide to no 1 without even a public appearance.

Exactly, record companies truly don't know how to promote and market many of their artists these days.Longtime artists like Janet are no longer a priority at big record companies. The music biz is a mess right now. That's why the artists themselves have to take charge and come up with their own unique strategies. They have to think outside the box and find new, exciting ways to promote and sell their songs. If I were Janet,I would concentrate on putting a kickass tour together. That's where the real money is,anyway.Go out on the road for several months and knock 'em dead.I also think she needs a more aggressive manager. I agree with you about Mariah's song."Touch My Body" is one of the most boring singles she's ever released I actually like Mariah, but that song puts me to sleep.

Too much filler on this album (& will they please drop the interludes already??), but I'm diggin':
Feedback LUV The 1 This Can't Be Good What's Your Name (or whatever it's called) Rock w/ You is pure shit - it shouldn't have even been MADE, let alone released

Honestly, I’m surprised that opened with Feedback and followed with Rock With U.
Since popular music seems to be driven by some sort of hip hop influence, I wondered if those songs and a few others on the album would get much airplay. I’ve never heard Feedback on the radio except for its debut but have heard Rock With U being mixed in and out of other songs once or twice. Radios not trying to play electronica or danced tinged songs unless your under 30. Sorta reminds me of comments on Ciara’s album… good uptempo dance tracks that were never released, only the hip hop cuts or urban flavor—whatever they call it these days—were singles. These days, for many artists,if you don't have a hip-hop influence in your music, you won't get played on the radio.Look at Madonna. She's having her biggest radio hit in years, largely thanks to the Timbaland/hip-hop connection.

The funny thing is that these days, hip hop has never been so POP oriented In fact just listen to Timbaland's work 10 years ago and now... Timbaland's sound has become whiter, of course white people won't see the difference, it's still hip hop to them...

Nobody ever followed what happened to DJ and 20 YO after ever week so why are we doing this? To make ourselves sick?
If a Janet CD gets released with no follow up promotion after the first week, what do you expect. There is always the possibility of being resurrected although that hasn't happened with a Janet CD since TVR. Until something happens with the album, I'm going to stop paying attention to this thread.

yes, they did follow that stuff here. not so much with DJ but definitely with 20yo. regardless, she's done very little promotion for the record and there's no reason she isn't already on tour. this is the problem with janet...she waits to see if her shit is a hit before she gets behind it. she should have been rehearsing for a tour months ago, getting things together that she could simultaneously release the record and announce tour dates. that would get everyone interested in the cd. let's not forget a record is not a promotion for a tour, it's the other way around.
